screening test?

Has anyone opted out to get a screening test where they find out if your baby might have down syndrome?  Is there any other way besides bloodwork that shows you might carry a baby with DS ? I have an appt this Thursday for a scan and haven't had the blood work done.. can I still get it? Kinda worried I didn't..

I didn't do it because of the false positive thing. I didn't want to have unnecessary stress throughout my pregnancy and regardless of what the test said they are still my babies so I passed. The doctor even told me basically because he has to tell his patients not because he recommended it. And told me about the high false positive rate.

Hmm idk what all the gals are  talking about bc it sounds like some are confused and sine had different tests. And you only getv the amnio if you have a test cone back abnormal and choose to do it. And yes you can occasionally getcax false positive on some tests like any tests in life. But I hsd the nuchal translucency ultrasound sound fine at 12 weeks and that is coupled with blood work. Chris for ds asxwell as

I also opted out of doing it. I just dont care i guess, because no matter what these are my children ill love them regardless:) and my friend said she got it done and it kept saying her boy would have spina bifida but he is a healthy 2 1/2yr old :) so that testing just causes stress and its not worth it.

They don't come back positive or negative the test deals with percentages. You either have a high chance (percentage) or low chance (percentage) if you have a low chance they won't even tell you...they only say something if the percentages are high because then they like to further investigate with an amniocentesis...but with our age bracket that's very low...I had it done just because I wanted to be prepared either way....they can only do the ultrasound between 11-13 weeks but you can have the blood part of it done whenever. Having had to have my daughter put through genetic testing after she was born because I didn't do the tests while I was prego was enough to change my mind ...regardless your going to live your baby wouldnt you want to be prepared and start making the right life adjustments accordingly?? I would
