There is nothing you can do to have the cord wrap around the baby or twist. Just like there is nothing you can do to keep it from wrapping or twisting. I've done a lot of research on the top since that's how I lost my last baby. Sit how you want. If sitting or laying in whatever position is comfortable for you, then listen to your body. Everyone tells me to lay on my left side but it hurts my side if I do so. I'm very comfortable on my back and I'm 32 weeks. Everyone is different and your body knows best.
I've heard it to be pretty common about baby's cord being wrapped around, and I've heard a lot of wives tales but never of this and not lifting your arms lol. those just seem bizarre !
oh well, never hurts to just ask right ?
It's an old wives tale... Your baby is fine!! Sit how you are most comfortable!
I ALWAYS sit like that...my baby is a week old...the cord was around her neck but its actually pretty common apparently...thats why the stop you from pushing once the head is out...ask your dr about it. i think its an old wives tale though...like your not supposed to raise your hands above your head (impossible) cuz that will make the cord wrap around the neck too...
thanks ! she told me to sit with my legs straight out, but I feel like that puts more pressure on my back / stomach cos I can't keep my back straight lol but I can sitting indian style. I agree there's soo many things and ways we move to have that happen tho!
and my little boy is ALWAYS moving ! lol it seems like he never stops. I'll just please her for now and not do it, then ask my doctor on Thursday :-)
I have never heard of it aiding in wrapping the cord around the baby's neck. I think that if the cord was around its neck it would have happened by now and babies more often then not will have the cord around some part of their body regardless of what you do. They just flip and turn and roll so much when they are smaller. But I can totally understand how it would help with spreading pelvis and hips. You can always contact the dr and ask but I am sure its fine to sit indian style. Its no different than sitting any other way on your behind as far as positioning the baby.
