Tubal Ligation After Birth
My fiance and I have decided that after this baby is born I would have a tubal ligation done to prevent any further pregnancies. My question is what is involved in that process? Will doctors do it immediately following giving birth or while I'm in the hospital after I give birth or would I have to schedule a time to go back to the hospital and have it done as out-patient surgery? Also what are the chances of becoming pregnant after the procedure is done? I've heard so many stories but was curious how many are statistics vs. stories. Thanks!
hello i am a mom of 5 my youngest is 4 i had a tubal ligation as soon as she was born i really regret getting them tied,and burnt i pray to God that i am prego my period since last month is acting up last month i thought i was cause i am regular, but it came late now this month its late again that is weird 4 me it is 7 days late is my body going threw changes being that i am 30 i or can i br prego i dont want to take a test cause i dont wanna get disapointed i get alittle cramping like if its coming but nothing yet i am also gaining wait but i eat alot lol so that can be a reason so can any one help

im 23, but i have, or will have 3 children as of Jan. 2009...they wouldnt do it before, but b/c i will have 3 children and i have other health problems they agreed they would i just dont know when they will.
I think most states won't do it until you are at least 25 years old and have a minimum of 2 children. Keep us posted though! ! Good Luck!
Some doctors wont do it unless you are a certain age or have 3 children, even though it is your choice, they say that too many women come back later and want it undone. I wanted it done when I had my second at age 21, and my doc wouldnt do it unless I was 25. Now I am glad I didnt because I am 29 and having my 3rd, and my fiance and I want one more. The oldest two from my previous marrieage are 10 and 8, and we want two together. So..I am grateful my doctor wouldnt do it then, or my honey and I couldnt have children together.
in answer to your actual question- some will do it right after and some wait a week and have you come back after swelling and things go down. With me having a c section, my doc was going to do it at the same time, but we changed our minds.

You should double check with you doctor first. I dont know how they do it in PA but here in MA they wont tie your tubes untill you are 27ish and have more than 2 children, Good luck
