No, its not. The doctors say a glass every now and then is fine but why not wait? It's only 9 months...I watched a YouTube video of a study someone was doing on it. During the sonogram they had a pregnant woman drink a little bit and see what the baby would do. The effects of the alcohol on the baby were almost immediate. He/she started getting twitches and had uncontrollable flailing movements of his/her limbs from the alcohol. It was so sad, I wouldn't drink if I were you.

Thats weird. I know a girl who was told it was OK to have red wine once in a whole and her baby boy was born with a heart defect and drs think it has to do with that. Who knew.

In a baby book I read it said drinking a glass of red wine wouldn't hurt the baby and can actually help their heart. Other than that drinking is bad during pregnancy.

I personally don't because I don't want to chance it. I can wait for a drink after she's born

U should not drink while pregnant.  Why risk it for a "glass of wine" u can drink all u want when the baby is born. I wouldn't risk my babys health for anything.. even if the doctors said once in a whole it should be okay.  They can't guarantee that.

Just to be correct, the poster who said there are "no studies on the effects of alcohol and pregnant women" must be referring to light drinking or some other limited question like that.  There are a lot of studies that assess fetal alcohol syndrome, it is a real deal and very serious.  My doctor, like the others here, said a random glass of wine every now and again is not a serious issue.  I never did drink during pregnancy, though, and was glad not to -- felt like I never even wanted to have to wonder.

One every so often will not hurt you or the baby, the studies between minimal drinking during pregnancy are few and far between and it's hard to pinpoint whether developmental or cognitive difficulties are linked to minimal alcohol consumption during pregnancy as the alcohol passes to baby, this is why they encourage you to not drink at all, although my Midwife said to me one now and again wouldn't hurt.   NOt that I'm a drinker, but I did have 1/2 glass of Rose wine at Christmas mixed with 1/2 glass lemonade with my dinner but that was it.   Heavy or frequent drinking during pregnancy however increases the risk of foetal alcohol syndrome, which affects your babys cognitive and developmental abilities.   A child born with FAS has distinct facial features and runs a higher risk of developing Cerebal palsy, mouth teeth and facial problems, epilepsy, liver damage, heart and kidney defects, and issues with height and weight.

Sorry don't wanna scare you , just passing on what I know x

There are no studies on the effects of alcohol and pregnant woman. Some drink a glass of wine every now and then like once a month maybe and everything turns out fine. But definitely not everyday
