I had SOOOO many colds first trimester with this pregnancy..I'm sure you remember me whining LOL. I just used saline drops, shower mists, and cough drops...I've heard good things about netty pots too.
Girl take a look at my "kinda worried" post, I trust your opinion (not that I trust anyone else's any less, but I know you well enough to know that you'll tell me I'm being crazy if I'm being crazy LOL).
I've never found a good humidifier, or at least one that I can tell is doing anything...I'll have to get some nasal spray when DH gets home from work.
blueeyedtabbycat~~~Yes ma'am. BUSY, BUSY, BUSY!!!
OMG girl! You are going to be so busy! I hope you start feeling better soon! I agree with all the other girls although I have never tried a neti pod. Nasal spray works the best for me along with a humidifire:~)
Well I don't know where to find a neti pot here, but if I get sick again I'll have to look for one in the states. I've only got 28 more days in Korea, then I'll be in sunny (hopefully) FL for almost two weeks, and then up to NC, for a day or two then PA for a couple weeks, then back to NC for a couple weeks then back to FL for my brother's wedding in July...PHEW. I'm gonna be so freakin busy I hope this goes away soon and I don't get sick again. Sorry TMI, but the green colored snot has started to clear up, it's just my throat that hurts and my glands that are swollen now, last time I felt like this it ended up turning into the beginning stages of strep and I got a penicillin shot in the butt, and took some pill...I'll probably take benadryl tonight if I still feel crappy, if anything just to help me sleep...last night was HORRIBLE! And DH said I kept waking him up from me snoring so loud, lol.
I had the same thing last week. It was HORRIBLE!!!! I didn't use anything though. I increased my fluids to loosen up my secretions which seemed to help. But I was also told to do the saline drops and take Benadryl but also did not want to take anything. Mine eventually ended up going down into my chest which was horrible because I don't think I ever coughed so much. I am finally getting over that but my nose is still running and stuffy. I hope you don't have my luck though because I also got the stomach virus Tuesday night and Wednesday so I had my fair share of sickness so far. Hope you feel better soon but I would def. increase your water intake and do the saline drops or neti pot.
oh yeah I used my neti pot and a warm mist inhaler it worked wonders.
Saline nasal sprays - they'll provide temporary relief from the congestion. Halls or something like that for the sore throat....I feel for you: I had some brutal colds when I was pregnant this last time, but all of mine were in my 2nd and 3rd trimesters. Hope you feel better soon :-)
I pretty much have the same thing and got it just over a week ago. The cough is the most annoying of all. I was finally called in prescription for a cough syrup. I'm 19 weeks though so I don't know what you can take. I was told it was ok to take Benadryl in my first trimester when I had a really bad allergy attack. I was sneezing and very stuffed up. I've had really bad pregnancy congestion this whole time though. I only took the benadryl a few times though.
