I didn't read the whole thing through either, I just wanted to say my Doctor told me Tylenol PM was fine, and I take it occasionally when I can't sleep..

I NEED my sleep! =)

I didn't read all of the responses, but my doc always told me that Tylenol was perfectly safe to take while pregnant at any stage.  I have taken both regular and PM at all stages of pregnancy with all 5 of mine and all have been perfectly healthy at birth.  I trust my doc with my life.  He's been my doc since I was 15 and delivered all of my kids so I really trust what he tells me.

I will say for sleeping purposes though, that 1 is always enough for me.  I never have to take the recommended dosage of 2.

I hope you feel better soon and try to get some rest :)

Tylenol pm IS benadryl, just sometimes it'll contain a different formulation of it I've had more than 1 obgyn tell me that both tylenol and Dyphenhydramine are safe.

HOWEVER: If your not in pain then just take Unisom or another generic brand. (i take sleepgels) my OBGYN said it's completely safe to take Unisom as it's a different formulation of benadryl.

Hope this helps!

I was told by the pharmacist that tylenol pm is similar to benedryl bc it contains diphenhydramine. i guess it is both in the two meds.. i dont know? I should have bought the benedryl now that i am looking at all the posts.. :-(

I cant sleep tonight either.. my back hurts, i have a headache.. just plain insomnia!

I don't know about tylenol pm but when I was preggers my ob said unisom is fine.  They gave us a pregnancy book and it also said regular unisom is ok.

I did not take tylenol PM...I just took regular old benadryl.  I also used Unisom.....just the regular unisom, not the unisom supreme or whatever it is.  These both were with the blessing of my OB

Well not being able to sleep is normal for pregnant women. After reading about Tylenol PM I personally would not take it. But you have to make a choice yourself!

You could try to take a bath with a lavender candle burning, rub some lavendar essential oil on your skin, have your partner give you a massage to help relax you, etc.

my midwife told me that benadryl and tylenol were like the only two things that a pregnant woman can take...

I found this on a website for Tylenol:

It is not known whether acetaminophen and diphenhydramine will harm an unborn baby. Do not take acetaminophen and diphenhydramine without first talking to your doctor if you are pregnant.

I would call your local pharmacy... they will be able to tell you for sure.  This debate was on this forum before and some people thought it was totally fine and others were positive that you couldn't :)  So, I would check with a professional :)
