PLEASE be careful!

I want to remind and encourage all of you to please be careful, not just because of the holidays but because of the weather. If you have ice, stay home and stay indoors.

Around 3 o'clock last night I was folding laundry on my dining table. I can see out into my backyard and two of our neighbors' backyards. They have this sort of joint driveway behind their houses. I saw one of the neighbors salting their very, very icy driveway. It had about 3-4 inches of ice in some areas.

I go into the kitchen to turn on my music (which I play loudly). And for whatever reason I forgot to press play. I went back to doing laundry when I heard screaming. I paused, thinking it was just kids and I strained to listen. If I had had my music on I would NOT have heard her. I realized someone was crying for help and I ran to the window. My neighbor was laying flat on her back on the ice and screaming. I called the paramedics and then threw on shoes and a coat and ran out to her.

She ended up being fine but some people don't end up fine. And if you are pregnant be ESPECIALLY careful on the ice. Please oh please! I want everyone to please be safe. Seeing my neighbor like that yesterday disturbed me deeply. Have a very Merry Christmas... safely!

I'm glad your neighbor is ok. Thanks for the concern Joy. We have to leave to see family today but I will make sure Joe holds on to me VERY tightly as we are walking to and from our car.

I am so glad that your neighbor was ok!!  We were the idiots driving in the ice yesterday.  My daughter was already at my parents house and we wanted to be there with her and my family for the holidays...so we journied out.  A 2.5 hour drive took us 6 hours!!  It was awful!  We were going 30 mph on the interstate (aren't those supposed to be the 'best' roads!??!) but some REAL idiots were driving much faster.  It scared us too bad so we actually hopped on some county roads and felt much safer because there was less traffic.  It took a loooong time, but we made it!  We will NEVER do that again.  We heard it was supposed to get worse so that's why we made the decision to head out...turns out that the weather warmed up today and most everything melted.  GO FIGURE!!!  :)  Anyway, I hope everyone else was as fortunate as us in our travels and have a MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

I'm very glad I moved from Seattle the city is crippled by the snow we are getting. We have about 3 feet of snow here but no hills!  I hate driving in this stuff but our city is very good with keeping the main roads clear.

Wishing everyone a Safe and Happy Holiday!
