I have medicade, so every time I have to go to the doctor its paid for. I just recently got on it so ill have to ask next week at my appointment whether or not I get another. I was really hoping for a 3D ultrasound because everyone I know says that their babies came out looking exactly how they did on the 3D ultrasound and that'd be pretty amazing if my fiance and I got a sneak peak of our little angel. We hear the heartbeat every time I go to the doctor so at least we get that :)
Ob think I paid $150 an got pictures and a dvd. I only did it bc my dh couldn't get off work to go to any of the ultrasounds.
I have only had 2 so far one at 6w when i found out i was PG the other at 10w i wont have another till im 21w for the anatomy scan. But my dr checks the HB with a doppler at every visit.
I had my 20 week ultrasound and they are not planning another. They said insurance only covers two ultrasounds, one at 11 weeks and one at 20 weeks...I was told if I wanted another one I would have to pay for it. Were I'm from they have this awesome place called First Peek were you can go get your ultrasound and it only costs 125.00 but at the hospital it can cost up to 500.00. I don't think its your doctor refusing.g the ultrasound I have a feeling.g its your insurance.
You usually don't get one after 20 weeks unless you pay for it out if your own pocket, or unless the doctor can't tell which way the baby is positioned towards the end. If you're skinnier, your doc will most likely be able to feel outside and see how baby is positioned.
I am 33 weeks and I've only had two at my doctors and wont get another. I paid $100 for a 3d ultrasound when I was 29 weeks.
Ahh cool understanding questions and convos better now lol.. Thnx :)
No, I don't. It's all paid for by the state I believe.
Thats gd :) lol do yous have to pay the insurance lol educating myself here lol
Ohh, I see. No they don't for me because I have really good insurance :)
Ahh I get it now lol I take it yous have to have health insurence then.. I got confused lol from UK things a wee bit differrnt over here lol.. I thought your docs where making yous pay for u/s lol
I usually have three, a dating one (or one done if I've had spotting/bleeding) the 12wk nuchal one and then the 18/20 anomoly one, we only have to pay a percentage for the 12 wk one if your over a certain age, the others are covered by medicare/government in australia
I'm from Michigan, and I definitely plan to ask her if Im scheduled for another. If not I might just go ahead and pay for one. My insurance covers absolutely everything so I'm definitely hoping I get another one. I'm going crazy over not seeing our baby girl.
I havent had one since 20 Weeks in not almost 31 but I'm scheduled for a 3d on the 17th when I'm almost 32 Weeks, I don't have to pay for mine its just routine for my dr
I'm from Pittsburgh PA. No Ive never paid, my insurance pays. But doctor offices have to put in a billing code to insurance companies so they will cover visits/tests/ultrasounds. The 20 week anatomy scan is routine. If I said to my doctor, "can I have another ultrasound" without him really feeling I need one, then I would probably have to pay. But ask ur doctor.
I had 5 ultrasounds with my daughter - one was done at a clinic when I was 7 weeks, one was done in the ER because we didn't detect an ultrasound by Doppler, one was my proper 20 week scan, one was at 24 weeks to recheck her heart and the placenta and my last was at 33 weeks to check her growth (I was measuring 7 weeks behind by fundal height). Definitely talk to your doctor and see their policy about ultrasounds. They should be checking the HB with Doppler at each visit, and you can ask them what it is when it's done.
Also ur doctor can you how fast the baby's heart rate is by using the doppler. Every visit they check for the heart rate, if he doesn't tell u the heart rate just ask him.
Can I please ask where you guys are from.. Do you have to pay to get your ultrasounds done? Sorry I am just curious lol
I didn't have an ultrasound after 20 weeks. Every doctor is different but maybe he doesn't feel a need for another ultrasound. And even with late ultrasounds that give the weight and size of baby is not always correct. My friend was told her baby weighed 9 pounds right before she delievered, but he only weighed 7. U can ask ur doctor but ur insurance might not cover it if ur doctor really has no need to do one.
I've had a few more than three, but that was only because I changed doctors twice and now this is my third doctor due to moving. I don't want to irritate my doctor by asking her to do an ultrasound when its unnecessary..
I didnt get another after my 20 wk until 29wk 5d.. I'd ring your midwife you are due a check up! At least hear the heart beat :) im sure u r anxious tho that is quite long and with no more apps planned? Im a first time mum too and get anxioux aftet about 3 weeks of not seeing anyone lol
My doctors have always gave me 3 per pregnancy, more if there are problems to be monitored and you can elect to have more and pay yourself but first you should ask your doctor if they will give you another.
Do you mind if I ask how much that was?
I didn't have an ultrasound after 20 weeks. I got an elective 3d ultrasound that I had to pay for on my own.
