Should I see my baby at 6 - 7 weeks ultrasound

Hi everyone

My LMP was 23.6.09, I am almost postive I conceived on 7.7.09.  I had a stitch like pain in my side, nothing uncomfortable, just noticeable on Friday.  Doctor checked me out and sent me to EPAU, just as precaution as I am an older mom at 39, risk of ectopic increases?

I was told i would need a vaginal scan, so empty my bladder, i was given an ultrasound,  (after being told to empty my baldder ???) which didnt detect anything apart from a thickening of the uterus?  I then had a vaginal scan which didnt detect anything, i had an iternal and advised my cervix was closed with no sign of bleeding.  I was poked and proded, but felt no pain.  I was advised I would need bloods done to check hcg levels, the result is 2250.  I have to have a repeat of this today (48 hours later) for a comparison.  All I have been told is they cant rule out ectopic, I have had no bleeding and dont feel any pain or discomfort.

The anguish and emotion of not knowing, is so upsetting, has anyone been through the same or have any advice, anything would help ?

Hi , I just went thru an ectopic and like you I had no pain or bleeding what so ever! My 1st ultrasound I was 5wks 4days and they couldnt see anything and told me that I had to come back in a few days..I had another ultrasound at 6wks 2days and my HCG level was 4700 and we saw the baby perfectly he/she even had a heartbeat in my left tube..I was rushed into emergency surgery within 2hrs..and I still had no pain or bleeding..
Lucky it was caught early and the doc was able to save my tube..Now I just started trying again...The doc said I have a 50% chance it happens again but I also have a 50% chance it doesnt..so trying to focus on that half!
The anestesiologist at my surgery told me not to be scared by all the statistics the doctors give you..He said he and his wifes 1st pregnancy was ectopic and they gave them all those same statistics and his wife was able to keep her tube as well and they now have 2 little girls...
I try to hold onto his words but I am very scared! I really hope that you are just early and not going thru an ectopic..No matter how you lose a baby its so hard...
I wish you all the luck in your pregnancy and will keep you in my prayers..
Hugs,
Lily

If your LMP was June 23rd, then you would be 6 weeks 2 days today... If you have a regular cycle and ovulated on cycle day 14. If you ovulated later than this than you might not even be 6 weeks yet. This is very early to see anything. Although some women do see there little ones this early, I had an u/s right around 6 weeks and all that was found was a gest sac, no yolk sac or baby. But it turned out that everything was just fine! I am almost 11 weeks now! Your beta #'s seem to be pretty good, and the fact that you are not bleeding or cramping is also a good sign! I would try not to worry to much. Hopefully it was just too early to see anything (I've seen A LOT of women go through similar situations on this forum), the blood work will give you more answers. If you get at least a 60% increase within 48-72 hours that's a good sign!! Good luck and keep us updated!!
