When I worked in food service at a very large nursing home (over 400 residents) I got Carpal Tunnel from the continual scooping and serving. The hand brace really does make it feel better and they're not expensive. I found mine at Walmart in the First Aid aisle!
well I seen my doctor today and she said it was more than likely carpel tunnel and said I could sleep with a hand brace untill baby is born and it should lessen up on its own after that:( I hope I have her soon! Im 2 cm as of today but I know I could still go 3 more weeks this way:( Next week I have a growth scan and a doctors appointment and my doctor said she would strip my cervix, Yeah!!! I hate to rush things but my hands are killing me!!!
I got horrible carpel tunnel with this pregnancy, it was so painful and ANNOYING! It went away about 4 days after I had Evan.
Yup! I drink so much water and gatoraid that I am up peeing every hour at night. Im always so thirsty. I generally go through 2 bottles of gatoraid a night (the bigger bottles) Ah, hopefully it will soon be over:)
Tabitha - are you staying hydrated? My girlfriend had that problem with her pregnancy and it was because she was dehydrated (she had the really horrible morning sickness that I can't remember the name of) and because of it it exaggerated the problem.
I had the WORST Carpel Tunnel when I was pregnant with Brooke. I got it really early in pregnancy too. It would be so bad it would wake me up in the middle of the night and not be able to sleep. I could hardly hold anything. My right hand was way worse then my left. I have to say it was the worst pregnancy symptom ever. I actually got a brace to help me keep it still and it helped a bit, especially with sleeping at night. Also too a stress ball helped big time too. Just squeezing it helped with the numbness and soreness of the carpel tunnel. I feel for you cause I didn't think I would ever get rid of it. Once Brooke was born is was MUCH better and within the couple weeks was completely gone. Hope this helps. Take care :)
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is definitely common during pregnancy. In my first trimester my hands were fall asleep and get really numb/tingly, too.
my OB and cardiologist both said there's nothing you can really do to prevent it.
Glad to know im not the only one, lol. I have never had this happen before. I have had carpal tunnel but never anything like this, I feel like an old woman with gnarled hands. The pain wakes me up at night:( Im going to mention it to my doctor tommorrow and hopefully she will have some suggestions on how to make it better. Im going to try and up my milk intake cause I know I dont drink enough so maybe that has something to do with it?? Eek, I hate milk:(
Def. pregnancy related....Is it like a charlie horse?? But like you said stuck in a curled position? Because that has happen to me in my foot a bad CH and then they are stuck for a few mins!!! Agh...I am so not looking foward to that again!!!
most likely pregnancy related. I had it last time- my hands became useless. Not just carpal tunnel (I had that too), but the swelling puts pressure on other nerves that affect the hands as well. Luckily, it resolved itself immediately after birth.
most likely it is pregnancy related. My hands went way crazy towards the end of pregnancy. basically all the swelling gives you carpal tunnel syndrome, but it goes away after pregnancy. There were a few fingers of mine that stayed kinda numb a few weeks after delivery. My doctor said it was normal though.
