I have heard zofran causes birth defects. I would talk to your dr. First before taking it.

Yes ik i have heard that and im sure she has to(shes been a doctor for atleast 22 yrs) thats why i said i know what it can do, but see if i dont take it i cant keep even water down which i believe is worse then the slight risk of zofran to my babies health.

I've taken it my whole pregnancy and everything's fine, it was either be horrible sick or zofran. Those commercials say "may cause problems" well everything in the world any medication taken could possibly "may" cause problems. Its a personal choice. But zofrans the only thing that worked for me.

I'm Canada we have Diclectin. It's the same thing as Zofran. And those commercials are ridiculous btw. Your doctor would not recommended something that causes birth defects. Everything in the world has "possible side effects" but zofran does not directly cause birth defects. Right along with all the other ridiculous commercials about common medications and stuff ! To answer your question though, my morning sickness was so bad that sometimes Diclectin didn't completely work. I never threw up after but I would feel extremely nauseous to the point where I wished I'd just get it over with and throw up ! Not everything will work for everyone, and that's nothing to worry about. Just let your doctor know and she can recommend alternatives or go from there (:

Take phenegran instead of zofran. You should stop taking it immediately. It can cause birth defects. Also, if you are having trouble keeping anything down, be mindful of what and how you eat. Eat slowly, and have lots of plain stuff, like crackers or bread. They will help absorb the chemicals in your stomach that are making you puke. If you do this and phenegran you should be fine. If not, seek further advice from your doctor. Hope this helps!

I used to take Zofran and it only worked for me during the day. It turns out I had acid reflux which was why it didn't help at night.  With a combo of antacids and zofran I managed to get through my first two trimesters and keep at least half my food down.

I was in the same boat with you as well. I took Zofra. But I am no longer on it because it wasn't helping me. So my dr. Put me on Diclegis. You only take it once a day at night. I have been on it almost a week. It has worked wonders for me. You might want to see if you can switch pills. Zofran didn't help the horrible symptoms I was having. I couldnt keep anything down.

If you take zofran there is a 30% chance of birth defects. So it doesn't effect evey women who take it but there have been mothers that suffer.

Do what's best for you.  Take the Zofran if it helps.  Don't let other people try to scare you from doing what you need to.  People are always looking for something to blame and at the moment it's Zofran.  Next week it'll be because you're breathing wrong.  Maybe it's just a little bug.  Had one of those this weekend and the Zofran didn't really help too much either.   Hope you feel better!

Its always worked for me. I still take it regardless of what others say. It helpsme for 1 and 2 when I asked my doctor about the birth defect talk she said there is no proven facts that the medicine in fact causes the defects. She said all this talk came from lawyers, same as when there was all the talk about yaz and other birth controls. I'll take my chances, a perfectly healthy mother that takes no medicine could create a baby with defects.

I took zofran one time at the beginning of my pregnancy and I'll never do it again. It made me feel HORRIBLE. I was light headed and tired and I just felt like someone strapped a 100 pound weight on me. It sucked /:

B12 is a water soluable vitamin that really helps, you will urinate and excess in your body and has no known effects to the baby, that and ginger tea works wonders! I was offered zofran but my declined and my doctor suggested that combo and it stopped me from being sick, and I was the same way as you throwing up water or anything at all. Also benedryl works good too just can't take it as often. Hope this helps!

4everinlov- yes morning sickness is part of pregnancy but when a mother cannot keep water down or eat at all it can become dangerous. The mother can become very dehydrated which can be very serious. Also if your baby isn't getting the fluid it needs it can harm the baby. I had to try gatorade it worked wonderful. Also small frequent bland meals. I had a hard time with water. I also drank sprite. But the Gatorade will keep you hydrated just make sure to still drink water! Zofran didn't work for me, I had to be switched to diclegis. It was much better. Also your prenatals can be making you sick. I had to switch to gummies with no iron, until I got past the morning sickness.

I did have success with Zofran in both of my pregnancies with no issues.  It's so commonly used and has a good track record.  If you need it, you need it.  good luck dear and I hope you feel better.
