Persistent urination problems

All of a sudden began to have constant urge to urinate but unable to completely empty bladder.  I have some dull back and leg pain as well.  Had DRE, urine tests, PSA of 0.3, ultrasound of bladder & kidneys, and cytoscopy which all came back good.  Urologist prescribed flomax but have not had any improvement.  Urologist said to wait it out for 3-4 months and then returned.  I am getting frustrated.

Hi,
Sudden appearance of constant urge to urinate suggests some irritation to the bladder mucosa. It could be due to various causes. Most commonly it is due to urinary tract infection or some calculi formation.
If it was painful micturation then calculus could be the cause.
Have a second opinion with other urologist
Good luck

Doctors are trained to perform differential diagnosis. That is, you present your symptoms and they check out the possible causes. Your urologist performed all the necessary tests to the best of his or her ability. Very often, they will not admit they do not have the answer.

I would go to a major university medical center or teaching hospital and consult with them. However, many people in non-urban areas do not have immediate access to such facilities and it may be a hassle with your insurance.

Good luck.
