Was your father given antibiotics before the procdedure or does he have a history of urinary tract infections? Does he have a history of coronary artery disease or perhipheral vascular disease?
Urosepsis is usually caused by E. coli and is the most feared complication of transrectal needle biopsy of the prostate. It is important to determine the cause of the infection via blood and (possibly) urine cultures. And treat with antibiotics accordingly.

I didn't have the high temp but had the freaky chills and 102 probably
the antibiotics worked after a second urinary infection followed the E-Coli infection .
It happens when the stick the needle through the rectum and intestinal wall and compromise it send fecal matter into your blood stream. I hate prostate biopsys!
I lived but am pissed . The doctors don't even show an emotion about it !
