thanks. It is located very near the anus-it seems to be where the prostate is, when I locate it w/my hands and get a better location evaluation. It hurts--can't really say hurts, yet-- it has a tingle all the time now when seated and there definitely is a feeling of pressure.  I had prostatitis 30 years ago. I am 56. No, It does not go down the leg--I know what sciatica is.

Hello Sir,

From your query, it is difficult to ascertain exactly what the problem is. Where exactly is the pain, do you feel it more in the muscle or like a shooting pain which follows all the way down the leg? How long has this pain been there? Have you tried any measure to make it feel better? Have you ever had any surgeries in that area? How old are you, what medical problems do you have, what is your medical history?
Without the answers to any of these questions, I can say that this could be a hernia of the left inguinal region, but it is not possible to confirm without subjective/objective findings. This is extremely unlikely to be prostatic in nature, but you must ask yourself about age, (higher age = higher incidence) and family history, (your father/brothers etc), if you have any positive factors, you might want to see a urologist for definitive management, but for now, it sounds like it could be a hernia.
