I had a pelvic MRI and there is an area where the bone marrow of my left femur appears dark on T1 without fat suppression. It is just as dark as the surrounding muscle. Only the marrow is dark, and only in my left femur. It is in the upper middle region, below the joint, and clearly visible on the axial images. On fat suppressed T1 this same area shows up as light, and it is somewhat lighter than the surrounding muscle. On T2 it is dark but not as dark as the muscle so it is a little bit less intense as on the T1 Images but still distinguishable. On T2 with fat suppression it shows up as light, less visible but distinguishable from surrounding parts. My questions are the following: What are the possible causes for this? IF this needs to be investigated, who should I talk to if I can't contact the radiologist who made the images? The scan was done for gynaecological reasons, without contrast agent. There is no mention of this area in the report and I need some opinions to understand what is going on there. Any helpful advice is appreciated!
