4 month old

My son is 4 months old with a chronic cough and consistant congestion they first diagnosed him with asthma and put him on pulmicort and albuterol. could this be an allergy? What other options does my son have? this has been going on for about 2 1/2 mths. I am getting very fustrated with the doctor because they have not started rulling any thing out. I am a young mother and i feel the doctors don't take me seriously. What can I do?

I agree with windriven, it would be a good idea to get another opinion. Usually kids that young don't have allergies (except for food) until a little later (it takes time to build up exposure of the allergen), at least that is what my son's allergist said to me at one point. I cold be wrong though... The only way to find out for sure is to take him to a pulmo where he can be assessed head to toe and given the right tests. Sunny

Get a second opinion or tell (don't ask) your doc to refer you to a pulmonary specialist because you are concerned. If you like your pedi, then this way you can keep'em because you're seeing a specialist, not another pedi. The pulmonary specialist will have broader knowledge and experience in this area.
