5 months of coughing fits and coughing whilst trying to talk

Hello,
For 5 months over winter i have had regular coughing fits.3 times a day for 2 minutes a time.10-15 coughs a fit.
i wheezed at the beginning but a course of antibiotics and ventolin stopped that.
the coughing has subsided  over the last month since the weather has improved,,and is now acceptable but i am left with one symptom that comes on randomly but is there to some degree most of the time :
when i start to talk i have a tickle in my throat that often builds during prolonged conversation and usually causes me to  stop at some point and cough before carrying on....very annoying.i have not had a sore throat , pain or fever.i am 40 have not smoked for 15 years and have occasionally coughed since i can remember ( 2-5 coughs a night ).any ideas anyone ?
thanks.

Ask your Doctor to administer  a Spirometer test. It could be the symptoms of COPD...hopefully just chronic Bronchitis. I have Emphysema, which is a deterioration of the Bronchials, that causes me to retain Carbon Menoxide since I can't exhale as much as I Inhale. I suffered the same effects you describe when I was diagnosed this year.

A 'tickle' in the throat is frequently due to some irritation. It may be due to postnasal drainage that touches the back of the throat or a dryness from talking that causes the same thing.
