Cold and Sore throat....

It is already a good 9 days that I began with a cold.
Stuffy head and nose. Normal body temperature.
Began with Tylenol Cold every 6 hours, plus vapours with Vicks.
After 3 days I began to develop also a sore throat, combined with light coughing, which eventually after one-two days practically disappeared. But the sore throat stayed.
Pain at swallowing, mostly, plus yellowish stuff from my nose.
The head "cold" feeling diminished, I never developped high body temperature, but the soreness of the throat stayed, until yesterday I began my first attack dosis of 500 mg of Azythromycin which will be followed by 4 days of 250 mg.
I woke up today with better feeling at swallowing, even if still stuff is coming out from my nose and I have a "nasal" speaking voice.

Should I continue with Azythromycin and that's it?

I am an opera singer, in 1 week I begin rehersals of an important gig and of course my respiratory and throat health is my priority!

Thanks for your advice!

Thank you very much for your advice.

I grew up in Europe and there antibiotics are not so easily given and taken like here in USA...
I actually wanted to avoid to take it, but I fell into this "antibiotic" spiral because I wanted to get well fast.

I am actually much better at my last day of the dosis, just some whitish stuff from my nose and the fact that I cant' smell almost anything (which sometimes is not a bad thing...).

Thanks again.

I also forgot to mention that I have been using already for one week Afrin PumpMist for my clogged nose (less times a day progressively) and just for a few days (now suspended) Chloraspetic for my hurting throat.
After the second day of Antibiotic, my throat is less sore but definitely not completely OK, still yellowish (even if lighter) thick mucus from my nose.

Even though this is most likely a viral illness, once you have started on the antibiotic, it is a good idea to finish the course.
