Levaquin

Hi everyone...has anyone ever been on Levaquin (it's in the same class of antibiotics as Cipro)?  I was on it for 5 days of my 10 when I started getting some wrist pain and they took me off it.  I am now feeling pain here and there, but no idea if it's related.   I didn't even know it causes tendon damage!

Just wondering if anyone else had those side effects???   If so, did they ever go away?  You read on the internet tons of horror stories about it and I don't want to end up like that!

Yes, before I became allergic to the stuff I did recall feeling quite a bit of joint pain with that class of medication. I used to take care of patients who were placed on levaquin for infection and noted that they would sometimes get what we nurses called "The Levaquin Shuffle". The affected patients would walk in a shuffle and complain of joint pain especially in the knees.
In my case, yes, the pain did go away after a bit.

Thanks Sunny!  How long were they (you) on it?  How long did it take before the pain went away?

Let me see...I think I was on it for two weeks, I had a severe UTI that went to the kidneys. The pain hit me after a few days on the stuff and lasted for weeks afterwards. It did get better slowly, doctors thought I was nuts when I told them that the Levaquin cause the pain but I know better. Like I said, I took care of patients who complained about the same kind of pain while they were on Levaquin.

I hope your pain gets better

I was on Levaquin for 10 days for a sinus infection.  Have severe joint pain in both knees and shoulders.  Hurts to walk, and cannot move my arms above my head.  Stopped taking Levaquin on Monday and is now Wednesay and pain is still unbelievable.  Does anyone know how long the pain will last and is there any way to get the pain to go away sooner?  My doctor said I should feel better in a couple of days.

Your shoulders are most likely torn!!! Insist on having an MRI done of both your shoulders.. Tell your doctor that said you will get better in a couple of days to go bak to medical school!!!!
