Lisinopril is a medicine in the pharmaceutical class called angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE)
inhibitorsAlpha-glucosidase inhibitors. ACE inhibitor medicines have as one of their adverse side effects, the ability to cause cough in an individual who has not previously had a cough; a cough that persists as long as the medicine is taken.
You should share this occurrence with your doctor and he/she will probably want to prescribe another blood pressure medicine, not in the ACE inhibitor class. It may take 3 to 4 weeks for the cough to subside, following discontinuation of the medicine.
developed a violent cough, a tickle/itch on the side of my throat would
cause it, I halved the doseage and the cough went away. The doctor
prescribed a different med and no more coughing.
good luck,
Ron
