I was on lisinopril, it was ok until the doseage was doubled, then I
developed a violent cough, a tickle/itch on the side of my throat would
cause it, I halved the doseage and the cough went away. The doctor
prescribed a different med and no more coughing.
good luck,
Ron

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Lisinopril is a medicine in the pharmaceutical class called angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors.  ACE inhibitor medicines have as one of their adverse side effects, the ability to cause cough in an individual who has not previously had a cough; a cough that persists as long as the medicine is taken.

You should share this occurrence with your doctor and he/she will probably want to prescribe another blood pressure medicine, not in the ACE inhibitor class.  It may take 3 to 4 weeks for the cough to subside, following discontinuation of the medicine.
