Shortness Of Breath

I am a 28 year old male, 6'1" 220 pounds and relatively active. I used to be a fitness buff. I'm not in the best shape in the world but I'm not in bad shape.
About 2 weeks ago I started experiencing shortness of breath at certain times during the day. What I'm describing as shortness of breath it feels like I just need to take a really deep breath and yawn to kind of "stretch" everything. At the same time we have had a severe weather change and I typically have severe allergy problems but they go away after a few days. I have NEVER experienced shortness of breath with anything like this before.
The allergy sypmtoms went away and the shortness of breath continued so I went to my family physician. He sqeezed my throat a few times and listened to me breath and told me he felt tightness in my throat. He said he felt I needed to get over the alergies and then I'd be back to normal so he prescribed me an inhaler, an antibiotic (levaquin), and singular allergy medication. I also asked him about m y blood pressure, it was 130/78.
He had me show him that I could actually use the inhaler then sent me home and told me to take the antibiotic and the singular after I got something in my stomach. I did just that then I came home and was still experiencing the problem and apparently worked myself into an anxiety attack and ended up at the ER trying to breath.
They immediatly hooked me up to an o2 meter and looked at the medications I was taking. I had a heart rate of 140bpm and a blood pressure of 170/120. I was really nervous at this point I have white coat anxiety. My o2 saturation level was perfect so they shot me up with something to calm me down and my blood pressure dropped as well as my heart rate. They did a chest ex-ray and could find nothing wrong and said my heart and lungs looked healthy as a horse.
They told me I needed to chill out and sent me home and told me to follow up with my family physician saying basically my swelled throat was causing a slightly restricted air way that worked me into a panic attack.  They also explained the medications I was on could possibly raise heart rate especially the inhaler. They advised me to keep taking the medication but not to use the inhaler again .
I went home and calmed down and spent a few days resting then about 3 days later I did it again. This time I went to urgent car, the only which was open. Once again my blood pressure and heart rate was up. Heart rate was at around 126 bpm, I was still on the antibiotic. The asked me if I had chest pain I said no. They went ahead and hooked me up to an EKG and had me do a lot of breathing and said that it looked good except for the 126 bpm. They gave the same diagnosis and said anxiety related tachyardia. I looked it up and basically they said I worked myself into a panic attack again. Once again my blood pressure was VERY high in the 170/110 range.
I followed up with my family physician as suggested and he prescribed me valium for panic attacks and said he thought I was fine. This might be panic attacks and might not I do have a VERY high stress job but the fact that I'm paranoid I might have a heart condition out of the blue is making me really paranoid.
I have been doing some walking lately on my treadmill and I feel fine. It's just certain times during the day this happens no matter what position I'm in. I start feeling like I need to take deep breaths, I get worked up and my heart rate goes up as well as my blood pressure.
This is really starting to scare me, I feel fine just really anxious about it. Can anybody make any suggestions? Does anybody else experience this with good medical tests? Is this really shortness of breath just feeling that I need to almost yawn?
Thanks in advance.

I went the doctor Friday and they're checking my thyroid function as well as a bunch of other stuff. I fit in with well over half of those symptoms so I hope that's all it is.
Thanks a bunch!!!

I don't know....Am I not a Dr. But will recommend from personal experience that you should have your thyroid checked. Anxiety, panic attacks, paranoia, "air hunger" (as you are having), not handling stress well, as well as a huge list of other things can be signs of thyroid problems.  It is hereditary; check your family history for thyroid problems.

I have recently been diagnosed with hypothyroidism and have all the same things you have.  Extreme yawning, very deep yawns that hurt.  Breathing that is hard to explain…Like I can never get enough air, deep breathes.  I have played soccer my whole life and never had a problem.  There are many other things as well that go along with hypothyroidism. Go check it out.
