Shortness of Breath

Over the last week I've been experiencing shortness in
breath but also a bit of heart arrythmia. I don't seem to
be experience the signs of a heart attach such as tighness
in the chest, pain in the arms, indigestion, clamy, gray
complexion, etc. The arrythmia seems to be more constant
over the last week but was first noticable about 3
months ago with the occassional flutter.

My cholestrol levels are excellent. Blood pressure is normal.
I'm not overweight either.

The conditions seems to come and go. More noticable when
trying to sleep at night, that being the shortness in
breath. It's like I'm having to consciously think about
breathing deeply. If I keep myself active I don't seem
to be experiencing the shortness in breath, it's in
the down time when the condition seems to be most noticable.

About 10 years ago I was diagnosed with MS but I've not
experienced over the last 6 years any flare ups with my
condition. I do know that MS could relate to some
respiratory issues

I'm not sure what to do at this point. Is it anxiety, MS related, or could it be heart related. Looking for some answers

Hello,  I just read your question on shortness of breath.  I experienced the same thing that you have written.  My shortness of breath was also accompanied by irregular, rapid heart beat that happened at night.  I also have chest pressure or tightness.  I went to the emergency rooms twice only to be sent home because my heart was normal.  The last time I went to the doctor an x-ray was taken and I found out that it was not my heart but my lungs.  I have currently been diagnosed with a  desiese called pulminary sarcoidosis.  I myself am just learning what it is.  But my advise to you would be to have an xray done to look at your lungs, not just your heart.  let me know how everything turns out.
best regards,
ndmom

You will need to be seen by your doctor to get the answer to your question.  It will take testing to find out if your shortness of breath is due to a problem with your heart, a problem with your lungs, a problem with your multiple sclerosis (MS) or anxiety.  It is probable that your doctor will have a pulmonary function test done to see if the problem is in your airways.  It is also possible an EKG will be done to see if there are heart problems.
