Hi and welcome to the community.

Bronchiecstasis is a form of lung damage and irreversable.  It involves the thinning and inappropriate folding of the airways.  This allows for mucous to "pool" in the areas the damage has occurred promoting the growth of a wide range of micro-organism infections that varry from those found in normal lungs.  A bronchscopy would be very helpful in determining the particular micro-organism(s) at the root of your symptoms.  Then an effective treatment plan can be started.

Treatments include but are not limited to oral antibiotics and anti-fungals, inhaled antibiotics, and flutter wheel to help break up the mucous (or a shake vest or compression therapy similar to treatment for cystic fibrosis).

Depending on the severity of your bronchiecstasis, there are options for treatment.  You should be seeing a pulmonologist for appropriate treatment.  You should be able to have a normal life with propper care.

A radiologist reported mild bronchiecstasis while interpretting my chest CT.  With my continuing issues, all the above treatments were discussed.  A second interpretation of the CT was requested, and it was determined that I did not have bronchiecstasis.  Several of the treatments were used based on sputum culture which came back with two abnormal fungii and my extensive history of mycoplasma pneumonae.

God bless.

This is IRREVERSIBLE and there is NO chance that future x-rays will be normal.  This is considered COPD.
