This is a critical state. Chances of failing systems in bacterial pneumonia are always possible. I am sure your parent is being closely monitored for all possible events.
Hi...I hope your parent is on meds for his or her infection. With fevers and work of breathing the heart rate can really increase, which is what your parent seems to be experiencing. If your parent seems to be having alot of trouble, maybe a hospital- depends on what your situation is. I don't know about your parent and heart failure, the one thing I do know is that people who have very advanced COPD have right heart issues called Cor Pulmonale, it is right heart failure. Again, I do not know your situation or how advanced your parent is in his or her disease (I am not a doctor) Perhaps a call to the doctor might be in order to answer any questions or concerns would also be a good idea. I do send prayers that your parent improves in his or her condition. Hugs, Sunny
The more and more I read your entry, the more I want to say that taking her to the hosptial (if it hasn't been done already) would be a better idea because it sounds like she really is working, her blood pressure is very high and her heart rate is up from the fevers. What do her docs say (I assume she has been to one by the fact that you say she has pneumonia). Just thought I would add a little...again, my prayers...Sunny
