diaphram discomfort

by Jackiei, Apr 07, 2008 10:48AM
I have a pain in my right side when I deep breathe when I am singing - its like my diaphram cramps up and I have to stretch out my body to relieve it.  I have had it for years but it seems to have esculated lately.  I sing regularly with a gosel group on the weekends and can't seem to get thru a full program without hurting.  This weekend it was pretty servere and is now aching.

This discussion is related to Ribcage pain/ diaphragm pain with deep breathing upon waking.

I have gotten those spasms too. It causes really sharp pain and makes taking deeper breaths really hard doesn't it. Fortunately, it goes away on its own. I am also usually a little sore after the spasm has relaxed. Does it hurt when you touch or press the area? I know it does with me as well. What helps me is a moist hotpack to the affected area, or take a hot shower with the steam directed to there as well.
I hope this helps...Sunny

Thanks for your input - When I have the problem its on a stage with lots of people watching so its pretty hard to fix it right then.  Its just started to get worse lately.
Thanks again....Jackiei

I too have been having these pains for about a week and a half.
Im 17 years old, and in a Health and Medical Program and my school for people looking to go into the medical field(become doctors). I myself find this very concerning, as at how young i am, plus i am a very active person playing sports all my life practicing everyday for 2hours per sport and then weight lifting in the morning. I eat really well(am always hungry and friends even say i eat too much) and keep in mind all Health food, little to no junk:). When i was younger i had asthma but i tried not to let this limit me. After a good 5 years without getting an attack though i had one not too long ago. Could this be a cause of this? I have been trying to sleep better, by not on my sides now for a couple weeks, and then this??

any help or clue what is the cause of this or how to prevent/ease the pain?
