The answer would depend upon whether the cause of the excessive mucus in your throat or lungs is due to infection or allergy. Badly discolored mucus, green or yellow, would suggest infection. If it truly is coming from your lungs, you must have either acute bronchitis or pneumonia, either of which will probably require antibiotic therapy.
With or without an infection you need to see a pulmonologist and be tested for COPD. Constant mucous secretion is one of the most basic symptoms of COPD. If you don't have an infection and your still secreting large amounts of mucous then don't walk--but RUN to the doctors office and get tested immediately!
