sudden cough & vomiting

In April i was diagnose with Walking Pneumonia.  Since then i have to sleep with a pillow on my chest to avoid any cold air getting to my chest.  Recently, i have had continuous flow of mucus and clearing throat of mucus. Exposure to air while driving causes a continuous clearing of throat and mucus.  Last week it seems to be getting worst as i find myself coughing for no reason, pain in my throat, vomiting and shortness of breath some times with a bout of hot flash.. I now have to travel with a bottle of water.  Everything does not subside until i clear my throat fully of mucus. During this time, i cannot speak until i clear my throat.  Tonight while cooking, the smell of garlic mixed with curry overwhelmed me and i started coughing to the point of almost vomiting and shortness of breath.  What do you think? Do i see a general doctor, a pulmonist or an ENTt doctor

Hi, the continuing cough with expectoration could indicate that the infection has not responded to the antibiotic. You will need to consult your doctor who may need to do a sputum culture and sensitivity to determine what antibiotic the organism is susceptible to.  He may even ask for blood test and an X ray. In the meantime take OTC acetaminophen if you have temperature, try to take warm oral fluids and do steam inhalations prior to your meals. This helps to loosen up and bring out the secretions. Regards.
