Chlamydia infection

Hi Doc,

Firstly thank you for taking time answering my questions
My story is that I am a British male and was over in the USA on business in sept 11 and had unprotected sex with an American female! Stupid I know! When I got back to the uk I test positive for chlaymdia I was given 4 tablets of arithcromycin to treat this

My problem is I still have symptoms after all this time, and to complicate thinks further I have a partner here in the uk, now I did avoid having sex with my uk partner, I only masturbated her and fingering!
Because of the persistent symptoms I got tested for everything again HIV 28 day test, syhp, chlamydia again, microplasma, uplensa, and I even did I urine pcr based test for trich all came back negative! After all this prove, but still with urethal symptoms I started have unprotected sex with my uk partner again, unfortunately she is having some issues now irritation of vigina, slight bleeding, and peeing at night, no foul smelling discharge though, but may only slight increased in a mount, with a white and slightly yellow colour

So my questions are

Could I have given my wife chlamydia from masturbating and fingering! This was only three timeS and I had my underware on on all occasions, if not what issue could she be having? May we both have a yeast Infection?

Why would I still have urethal symptoms after all this time, which are slightly different to my intial chlamydia symptoms as in I have no discharge this time maybe just a wet feeling at end of penis but nothing on underware, And sometimes the sensation can feel more on the gland than in the uretha! I also did a uti test which was negative too!

Just to add my partner is visiting the doc this week, but I am so stressed and full of anxeity of given her some sort of std

Thanks again

I think it is highly unlikely that anything has been missed with so many negative investigations, and if there had been a different bacterial infection, something would have been detected under the microscope.  I think it is worth perhaps trying with a further course of antibiotics and if the symptoms continue, the next step would be to see a urologist.

Thanks for your reply

Over the course of the last 5 months this has been going on.I have tested for chlaymdia 3 times after intial infection gonnorrea 3 times microplasma 2 times and uplensa 2 times and one pcr urine test for trich I even had a scrapping taken from the uretha and the gum clinic nurse and doc checked it under the microspcope while I waited but all have been negative! Confusing!

so it is possible that the tests have missed an STD or the culprit could be a different kind of bacteria?

Sorry for all the questions just wanted to get this sorted, I will go back to the clinic at get some doxy.

Thank you for your help!

Hello,
Thank you for your post.  It is difficult to tell what it is going on, especially when you had all those negative test result.  It is possible that what you have is NSU (non-specific urethritis) and sometimes it is worth to get treated with a longer empirical course of doxycycline, even if we have not been able to identify the micro-organism.
I do not believe that you have infected your partner after masturbating and fingering; if anything, it would have been when you had unprotected penetration after your negative tests.
If symptoms persist even after the antibiotics, you should go and see a urologist.
Best wishes,
Dr José
