GrecefromHHP /Ripazzio Help me continue my life!!!

A year and a half ago I had protected sex with a prostitute. During that my condome broke and I was IN unprotected for a minute or so. Once I realized I got out... From that point my whole life changed. I think about diseases and infections all the time, they are my main preoccupation and there isn't minute when I don't think about them.
One year after the exposure I went to the doctor and I took some tests. I was tested for HIV, Gonorrhea, Syphilis, Chlamydia and Ureoplasma Urealitica. The results came negative for HIV, Gonorrhea and Syphilis, but positive for Chlamydia and Ureoplasma Urealitica. The doctor prescribed me doxycycline 100mg twice a day for ten days, and then Sumamed (Azithromycin) 500mg once a day, for three days. After the treatment my penis started to turn all red, and it itched a lot, so I realized that it might be Candida from the antibiotics, so I started using Canesten Cream and it all got cleared up in a week... And as it seemed that finally I would put my whole STDs worries to rest, I started experiencing strange feeling on my penis.. One day my penis head would look very red, the next day my urethra whole would look very red and the next day something different. From that single exposure to the present day I haven't had sex with no one else... I am dating a girl for a year now, and I haven't had sex with her because I am scared that I might infect her... I am really depressed now because I don't know what to do next, guess I'm paying for my single mistake... Please guide me, what other tests should I take, should I be tested for HSV (it's been a year and a half and I haven't had a exposure) or some other STDs.. When could I hav e sex with the girl that I love without thinking that I might hurt her??? When could I continue with my life without thinking that I am sick??? What should i do...? PLEASE help me!

Would tstd.org be a good company to get tested with?  I was tested at one of their locations in Minnesota.  They actually use Quest Diagnostics to perform these tests. The sample results page on their website that lists everything that I was tested for including HSV-1, HSV-2, Hep B, and Hep C.

I think it cost me about $300.

Good luck!

Oh and another thing to try is a topical anesthetic in the genital area too. Sometimes that's helpful.

I'd return to the doctor and give a urine specimen and have them test it for yeast as well as look for white blood cells etc to see if there are any signs of any infection still going on.

Sometimes your body sets up a pain cycle that is very hard to break.  When you have pain in the genital area - you are tensing up muscles that you usually wouldn't tense up and before you know it - you are tensing them all the time and you have even more pain.  Think of when you are really stressed at work - the muscles in your shoulders and neck get really tensed up and tight. If you keep it up - next thing you know you'll be having headaches and blaming them on work when it's really the tight muscles in the shoulders and neck causing trouble.  Go get yourself a nice massage and ta da- no headaches for a couple of days.  The same thing happens in our genital area sometimes.  Now granted there are some facilities that will do all sorts of massaging on the inside and outside for you there are other options including medications, relaxations, biofeedback and accupuncture among others. What's important is to break the pain cycle.  http://www.pelvicpainhelp.com/excerpts.html  is a website that offers some suggestions.  Read thru it and then discuss it with your doctor and see what the two of you can come up with to help try to get you back to normal.

Your last sexual intercourese has been well over a year ago.  Everything has come back negative.  You cannot ask for better than that.  Are you drinking plenty of water?  The best thing is to talk with your doctor about your concerns.  Are you wearing tight fitting boxers?  These are somethings you may want to consider.

What I have learned is that the health care system rarely like to check for HSV and Hep B and C.  YOU HAVE TO INSIST.  I doubt that you have either one of these.  I strongly encourage all sexual active individuals to get vaccinated for Hep A and B.  Please do not let anyone tell you this is not necessary.  If you get a chance, read my post under Kidrock!!!  Take care and blessings.

Thanks stillHurtin, but what do you think about HSV and hep B and C testing, should i get tested for them as well? And what do you think about the dryness of the head of the penis, is it some STD symptom? Thanks again, many people are grateful to you people, who unselfishly spend your time helping others!!! Hope you all have great life, because if someone deserves it, it's you!!!

If I were you, I'd just get retested for the things you were positive for, make sure you're now negative, and then move on.

For random redness etc, it's normal for skin to change colors pretty regularly.  If you payed that much attention say to your knuckles or the skin on your palm you'll notice patterns of color which change frequently there as well.  If the redness is associated with swelling and pain, that's when I might think it's really a symptom and not just nerves and an overactive mind.  No bacterial infection is going to cause redness which comes and goes from one day to the next like that, it would be more persistent.

I don't have blood in my urine, it's just the redness of the head of the penis, and sometimes the ending of the urethra is red as well. But a day after everything seems ok. again.
I forgot to tell you that I'm not circumsized and the head of my penis is dry as well.

Hello. Your situation does seem complicated. Since you have already seen a doctor, it's impossible for us to give better advice, than just to urge you to have a second opinion immediately when some clear symptom appears.

Based on your description many STDs have been ruled out (have you checked that chlamydia treatment worked OK?) and since the tests were taken such a long time after, they are 100% reliable.

Blood in urine does not sound a common STD symptoms to me, but I'm not an expert - just a worried person myself who decided to encourage others who are in the same boat with me. Some of your symptoms must be psychosomatic, since I have had "strange feelings" and red looking urethra/scrotum myself many times after my own mistake, but not a single test has been positive so far - plus 4 different experts have said that there nothing wrong with me. So what can I say, I guess we underestimate the symptoms our body can reflect only because of pure anxiety. I believe that to some extent you are suffering from these kind of "feelings" as well.

You could try to open a conversation with your girl, even though the subject is sensitive. She should understand, as you are only trying to protect her. Condom naturally is a must if your symptoms persist. STD is not a reason to stop living your life like you did before, they are annoying, but yet much better than cancer etc.

Myself, I also had huge stress since I did not want to have even protected sex anymore because of my of symptoms, despite all experts' assurances that it's risk free to do so. No I have, and so far there has not been a problem. Not even after when one condom broke. Boy was I scared then, that the girl will call me two days after and tells that she caught something. Felt like running under a truck after that incident, but everything is still OK.

Bottom line: I'm sorry I can't help, you have to get an appointment and have another check in case of bloody urine etc. I see no reason for herpes blood test, in case you have no symptoms related to it. If you had herpes lesions in you urethra, people would probably hear you peeing from 10 miles away since you'd be screaming that loud.

I hope you are able to find a piece of mind and get over this. And if you do, please tell me how, since my own fight is still going on too!

Take care and best of luck.
