Mollescum Contagiousum 2 YEARS?!?!?

I have had this for 2 years next month. It's driving me crazy! It comes and it goes! I have read and read about it and it always says that it will go away after a few months... it goes away but then it comes BACK! Why?!?! I want it gone! I haven't seen signs of it for a long time, then all of a sudden it's all over! And I think my boyfriend has it now too.

I have been treating the random outbreak by popping it like a pimple and scraping it out like my doctor (who misdiagnosed me the first time and told me I didn't have it and my first doctor was wrong, only to tell me that it was MC my second visit. ) told me to. Then I usually put some Aldara on it or something and it'll go away. But these are so small I can't do that.

Why does it keep coming back? Will I have to go through this always?? But in short bursts? Is there any research saying that it will stay in someones system for long periods of time??

Tea Tree Oil, you can get the 100% australian one at any GNC for 14 bucks. This oil is extremely potent so dont apply to much on your skin. I think it helps. I just dont understand how they got people like Magic Johnson living with HIV and they have pills fo Herpes to supress it and they have all sorts of medication, and then you get this f#%ckn BS virus and they say yep, its ok it will go away. Im so efing mad. Im down to take Hydrocloric Acid and apply it to these pimple looking things. The pain does not bother me at all. What scares me is that this spreads thruout your body.

Yes, some will say its ok to pop them, as long as you are doing it exactly as your doctor demonstrated.

I'm not a fan of this, simply because many people don't do it exactly.

Its a personal preference, and up to you.  Since your spots don't seem to be going away, and you and your gf might be spreading it back and forth, you might want to try some different approaches, such as aldara only, and abstaining for awhile.  (Yeah, I know - not fun.)

Actually it is ok to pop the MC as long as you are doing it the way your provider showed you to do it.

I agree - you and your partner are probably passing it back and forth at this point. Also when you use aldara for mc you need to be using it as ordered for several months - just not here and there as you described using it.

At this point I recommend both you and your bf going to a dermatologist to have these treated with different medications.  You can also talk about using oral immune boosters like cimetidine to see if that helps you get rid of it for once and for all. The research shows that it only helps with a 1/3 of mc infections but I think at this point you'll use anything.

also keep in mind that mc isjust a nuisance - it's not a health risk. In other words it's a pain in the butt!

For one, if your bf does have it, you could be getting reinfected.  But I know it would be hard to hold off relations until you are both cured.

And as above, when you pop them, it's very effective for making them heal but you MUST make sure that the contents of the center do NOT get anywhere!  It's loaded with the virus and can make things worse.  For most people, popping (lancing) it is probably beyond their skill level and something like Aldara is a better solution.

I have never heard of different strains but obviously not everyone's immune system works in the same way.

I personally think that Retin A Micro seems to be a good solution to this if your ok with your Genitilia looking like a peeled bannana!!! I read that Mollescum is not like herpers and does not LIVE inside your body. It is a skin desease that can be cured and will not come back unless you come in contact with it. This is the reason why it spreads when popped...your giving it to yourslef over and over. Are there different types of this skin disorder? Seems like some people really get it bad.

I agree - the popping is probably what is making them come back.

I just got this cr@p to and have been using Retin A Micro. It seems that its helping but its drying out my skin like crazy. Im so scared of this and pissed off because they things just wont go away. they say its not a big deal, but wtf, they have all sorts of medicationa and there is nothing to cure this. Personally I think that the method your dr has been using and popping them is the very thing that causes them to COME BACK. Even though it seems like they are gone, when popped they effect the good cells around you. STOP popping them and apply the Aldera or the Retin A Micro on them. Also Iodine helps, but it will mess up your skin like crazy and in a week it will be better. Do anyhting that will not pop them
