Ureaplasma.

I think I've had ureaplasma for 7 years.. I'm from Russia, when I was 12-13 yo I started having a discharge and it smelled weird.Sometimes it looks white and yellowish or even almost clear and sometimes it looks kinda like SEMEN! I hadn't had sex yet, so I'm not sure where the symptoms could come from. I couldn't tell it to my parents, because I had a step-mom and I was shy to tell her about my problem. When I was 15, I had a homeopathic general health testing   with the report of my health problems, I don't have the report handy because I am in the US now as a student but I'm pretty sure it had ureaplasma positive for it. At the time, I HAD NO IDEA WHAT IT WAS and I didn't think it was a big deal. In the meantime, I still was having the discharge and the smell.When I was 17, I had my first genital ,contact with men(it was 2 men) before I got tested for STD's. As I found out, I had chlamydia and trichomonias. I read somewhere you could get chlamydia from cats or sauna and things like that, so I took antibiotics hoping that what I have had for years was trich. A week after i took antibiotics, I went to venerologyst and was tested again and event hough I still had the symptoms, the results were negative. I hoped that would go away, and in 2 months when I was supposed to get tested again jut in case, I still was having symptoms, BUT THE RESULTS WERE NEGATIVE!!!I was telling my doctor I still had it but he said it's impossible, so I just gave up trying. Then, I decided to get tested in the U.S. and that's where I read about different STD's and their symptoms. I thought, maybe I have been suffering from Bacterial Vaginosis all this time,and the test was positive. After taking the treatment, I got checked for BV again but it wasn't there!And after a month, it wasn't there!BUT THE SYMPTOMS WERE STILL THERE!Tests for Trich, Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, Syphilis, Yeast infection-all came back negative. While reading stuff on the internet, I found out about ureaplasma and as a flashback, this Homeopathic testing appeared in my mind, but I don't have that paper here with me. meanwhile,at the clinic I went to here,the doctor didn't even know about Ureaplasma and where to get tested for it.I really don't know what to do, where can I get tested??And am I already broken since I had it for so long??Thank you so much.

Oh i am sorry i just assumed you were a man. (bias of me lol)  Your right NGU only affects men.  I'm at a loss then.  I really don't know much at all about the subject I found those articles and that's about it.  I would really recommend asking these questions to a professional.  Print exactly  what you posted here if your like me and you get a loss for words at the doctors office.  I am sorry I cant help more but this seems to be a tricky case that really should be left up to the professionals.  Hopefully you find some relief.  (If your one of those people that dont have health insurance, since a lot of us on here don't.  Try asking Hunter Hansfield the STD doctor on here, it's only 20 something dollars, way less then a regular doctors visit without health insurance)  He is very helpful most of the time.

Actually, I am a girl...and I think the doctor in the article mentions that NGU can be present only in men, is that true?

I only read a in a few articles that one cause for ureaplasma is due to immunosupression and often due to diseases like HIV.  Which I am sure you do not have.  However the reason I brought up NGU was because Nongonococcal urethritis is the most common sexually transmitted infection. Ureaplasma species may account for a significant portion of cases that are not due to chlamydia.  Which would mean that it is a good case to bring up to the doctors.  I am not saying that it is but NGU is not always sexually transmitted and the bacteria that has been causing all the problems in your penis since you were a kid could possibly be an untreated cases of Ureaplasma.  Has anyone taken a urine sample to confirm whether or not it was?  It's just an idea because honestly there isn't much info I can find that could otherwise suggest ureaplasma is caused by anything other than STD's.   It is not a widely popular subject.  Did you read the thread.... try reading this article as well http://emedicine.medscape.com/article/231470-overview  I found some info on there.

Sorry, I meant to say trichomonias can be transmitted from cat's or sauna, not chlamydia. I guess, I got clamydia from one of the 2 partners I had intimacy before I got tested for STD's. However, after the antibiotics, both Trich and Chlamydia went away. I never stopped having the symptoms since I was 13: discharge, the smell, a little burning and discomfort during urination...Since I got rid of Trich and Chlamydia, I have had only one partner, and I got tested again in a while after the beginning of our relationship. I was negative for every thing that is charactorized by the symptoms I have. My partner is clean, too. Thus, considering that the symptoms appeared when I was a kid and didn't have sexual contacts yet, the disease I have been carrying must be non-sexually transmitted, and I heard ureaplasma can  be a result of the system's break-down, could it be?

Well this is a tricky case.  I did some research on Ureaplasma via the web since I didn't know much about it.  According to doctor Hunter Hansfield who is a Medhelp Doctor specializing in STD's.  Ureaplasma is not as much as a concern here in the US than in other countries.  Here is the thread if you'd like to read it http://www.medhelp.org/posts/STDs/Ureaplasma/show/245287

Having said that first I would like to say that it is not possible to contract Chlamydia from cats for saunas.  They are sexually transmitted dieases, so unless you have sex with a chlamydia infected cat or sauna, you have nothing to worry about.   Second I noticed that no where in this anaylsis of your treatment do you say anything about NGU The symptoms of NGU Non-gonnoccal urethritis the symptoms involve a slight burning or tingling during urination that is sometimes accompanied by a slight (usually clear) discharge (drip) from the urethra.  It is almost always infected sexually but there are other organisms that can cause the infection inlcuding mycroplasm genitalium which would include Ureaplasma.  Since Ureaplasma urealyticum infections present with urethritis (painful urination) just like Chlamydia and Gonorrhea infections would (it's common to get two or even all three of these at the same time), all three are treated together. A single shot of intramuscular ceftriaxone for Gonorrhea, and either a week-long course of daily oral doxycycline or a single oral dose of azithromycin will take care of Chlamydia and Ureaplasma.

This was all my findings via the web.  I am not a doctor but it's something to look into since at this point you sound somewhat at your witts end.  Ureaplasma is not part of a routine STD panel so you would have ask for it specifically but I would definitely look into NGU is a possible culprit.
