What are the risks of contracting an STD from oral sex (on a young woman)?

I am a virgin woman who has had anal and oral sex. In the past, years before I got active, I found that I had yeast infection. It was then treated and I was clean again.

Within the past 4 weeks, I had anal and oral sex with 2 different partners.

My first sex partner performed anal sex with me using a condom and lube, and also brief oral sex. This happened once. He got checked at the beginning of 2012 (clean) and did not have sex until me.

My second sex partner is a smoker, he performed full oral sex on me. He and I had sex 2 weeks after my first sex partner. I did not take his penis in my mouth, I only sucked on parts of the shaft and the testicles. He got checked last month (clean) and did not have sex until me.

I have set an appointment with a health clinic nurse for counsel and to do a urine check next Monday.

I would like to know how high the risks are for women who had oral sex performed on them, whether it is possible to have it performed safely (any protection against STD) and how great my chances are of contracting an STD with my sexual history, as stated above. Also, how high are the risks of contracting an STD when performing oral, anal and vaginal sex with a smoker. The net does not provide information on this matter and I would extremely appreciate having these questions.

I am very concerned that I may have contracted an STD even though it is still very early as I have not experienced any symptoms yet (I just had sex yesterday with my 2nd partner and the appointment is on Monday). Generally, how long do I need to wait to begin seeing symptoms if I am positive?

testing has to be done at the proper times or you wasted your time and money.

I wasn't sure, I thought that since smoking is generally bad for the health of the smoker and that second-hand smoke is detrimental for others, it would make someone more likely to have a STD.

I went ahead and saw a doctor at a walk-in clinic on Friday before Monday's appointment with a sex health clinic's nurse. The doctor thoughtfully answered my sex-related questions and performed a blood test, a throat swab test and a urine test. I'd just like to know if there is still need to go to Monday's appointment if I have done those 3 tests. Are there other tests that I would need to do at the sex clinic or have I done all the necessary tests and do not need to make the second trip?

why would smoking make someone more likely to have a std?

So I should get checked too if I test negative for chlamydia or gonorrhoea.

Do you know the likelihood of getting infected from having all forms of sex, particularly oral, with a smoker? I've been worried about this one as it seems to be dirty. My partner was able to mask the scent of it really well. He's really hygienic but I'm afraid it can still pose as a great risk, particularly when deep penetration of his tongue was involved in my vagina.

you can use dental/oral dams to have oral sex performed on you. you also can take a condom and cut it open and lay it over your genital area. the condoms are the cheapest and most easily obtained option.

correct - testing must be done at the proper times to reflect any recent encounters.

I did not see my partners' results but I trust their word for it. I haven't been tested for herpes so I don't know my own status, that is why I must attend the appointment to be sure.

I've already had unprotected oral, is there any way a woman like me could have protected oral sex performed on me?

Yes, I've already had my gardasil shot series for HPV. So by saying that I need to wait at least 6 weeks-3 months to test for syphilis and herpes, does this mean that even if my STD test next week comes out positive, it is imperative that I do tests at those later periods?

the only safe oral sex is protected oral sex.  if you've seen your partners std results and know that they got tested for everything, discuss together if you want to take the risk of having unprotected oral or not.

have you been tested for herpes to know your own status?

protected anal sex is relatively low risk. syphilis, herpes and hpv are the main risks and they are low too.   you have to wait at least 6 weeks post encounter to test for syphilis. 3 months to test for herpes. we don't test for hpv unless you have obvious warts. have you had your gardasil shot series for hpv?
