chlamydia related infection: epididymitis?

I have sporadic pain in my left testicle, seemingly from the rear and in the middle, the pain intensifies when pressured or when the teste is pulled down. i believe this may have been the result of chlamydia as it followed unprotected intercourse. I believe i may have had it before but I took a prescription of doxycycline to prevent affliction from malaria when i travelled to ghana last summer, the antibiotic which I read can be used to treat epidiymitis and the pain was relieved as least as far as i can remember. Following recent sexual activity again, the pain seems to have returned, sporadic as before. does this sound like epididymitis and should i seek medical attention?

Were you ever tested??? or did you self medicate with doxy?

You've had unprotected sex and you need to get tested, you need a full STD panel. and this could be anything.

Self medicating is not wise... you could have had something and just post poning the symptoms with Meds... and it would appear that you took tooo much.

Any time you have something going on you want to see your doctor and not try to fix the problem your self... Good luck and let us know how things go

This could be  epididymitis, but at the same time i could be other things, The best advice is to see your doctor as pain did follow after unprotected sex. Never ever assume and self medicate, you might make the problem worst.

The doxy prescription wasn't actually for the testicular discomfort, but for malaria prevention whilst i was in africa. i just read that doxy helps to treat certain std's. i have now booked an appointment to get std tested and an appointment at the doctor.

same situation, as in same pain, followed unprotected sex.  tested for everything, all negative.  Got pain four days after unprotected sex with college student, she later said she had bacterial UTI infection and was treated.  Pain showed up follow day after sex with my wife.   Went and got tested urine, swab, full bloodwork all negative.  sex again with wife, day following finishing 10 days of antibiotics (lev...or somehting)  from walk in clinic (precautionary while waiting for test results), a few hours later pain in testicle starts again.  resummed antibiotics.  exact pain 3 years ago was protatitis per urologist and said need to be on for 28 days. Now its going away.  When exact issue occured 3 years ago and I convinced my wife that we were exchanging a non std bacterial infection, her obgyn implied nonsense, it was a problem I was having.  i.e. prostatitis.  thoughts?

I went to the doctor yesterday. after examination, he said the most likely diagnosis is epididymitis and so i'm now on a prescripted course of doxy again for two weeks.
Also had to submit urine sample. hopefully it will clear up
thanks to you guys for your advice, will let you know outcome

You still had an unprotected encounter and you NEED to get a full STD panel whether this is epididymitis or not. You need to know your status to protect yourself from damage to your body and to protect your future partners...

And you don't want to test while your on medications as some meds can effect the test results. i hope you get tested.
