gonorrhea

Hi, I have been diagnosed with gonorrhea and received treatment for it but my girlfriend of 4 months has been tested and was negative. We had unprotected sex once (a couple of weeks before symptoms appeared for me) but had protected sex and oral since December. I haven't had any contact with anyone else since July 2012 when I had unprotected sex, how could I have caught it?
Many Thanks

Yes or gf had it gave it to you and then it was cured by some means so she tested negative.

but surely then that means that either my girlfriend's test is a false negative or that the bacteria stayed in my body for 6 months without infection? As I've only ever had unprotected sex twice...

The only way you can catch gonorrhea is through unprotected sex.
