herpes type 2 positive..?

I got genital herpes type 1 from my ex boyfriend a year and a half ago, and when I got tested it came out to be herpes type 1. Because I had a  treatment immediately, I had no outbreaks since then. But the problem is, I transmitted it to my new boyfriend who has been with me for 5months, and found out it was type 1, but my latest blood test came out to be TYPE 2 POSITIVE(2.5) and negative for type 1(0.7). Im just confused how that happened...I never had unprotected sex with anybody. Should I get tested again? I have done tons of research on it and it says the blood test is accurate but I just can't believe that I have type 2...

Ok - well a newly acquired hsv1 oral infection will typically cause throat symptoms. Recurrences are usually more on the lips/facial area.

We don't have good studies on hsv1 genitally and orally contracted at the same time unfortunately but of the 2 studies I have found in the past - one showed that 1/3 of folks who contracted hsv1 genitally, also had it orally. The other study showed much higher rates of hsv1 oral infection at the same time as genital. Both studies though just looked at the appearance of obvious cold sores - not at swabbing the oral area to detect hsv1 oral infections that don't present with obvious symptoms ( the majority of folks who have hsv1 orally don't get obvious cold sores to know it ).  You most likely transmitted the virus to your bf thru good old fashioned kissing if you want to go with the most likely odds.  The good part of that is - if he has it orally, he's unlikely to get hsv1 genitally in the future.

Ok so your current bf - he had his symptoms in his throat?  Am I getting this right?

I recommend confirming your herpes blood test again.  Your hsv2 of 2.5 might be a false positive due to your previous hsv1 infection ( which you know you have even though it's not showing up on your current blood test - they still miss 1 out of 10 hsv1 infections - you had a hsv1+ lesion culture so you know you have it ).   If your doctor uses quest labs you want the herpes inhibition assay - test #17170.

The bf i was talking about on the comment above was my ex bf...sorry. My boyfriend now got serious sore throat 2 weeks after giving me an oral and he had both of lesion culture and blood test which cameout to be type1. But the weird thing is that he got blisters just on the throat not on the lips..isnt type 1's outbreak shows up on the lips? or around mouth? I asked him if he had type 2 also but he was negative for that one. My doctor told me that I might have symptoms soon and gave me acyclovir but I am not even sure if I should take it cuz idk if I really have it.

Thank you for replying:)
I was diagnosed by receiving oral from my bf and his blood test came out type 1 positive. He didn't know how he got it cuz he never kissed nor had sex before.  I had a lesion culture during my first outbreak and it was type 1...but the recent blood test showed that I never had herpes before but I just GOT herpes type 2 and im very VERY confused.

totally disregard the info on treatments that van gave you - none of those products are very helpful and they aren't recommended.

How were you originally diagnosed as having hsv1 genitally? did you have a blood test that said hsv1 at the time of your symptoms, a blood test later on that said hsv1 ( if so how much longer afterwards was it done ) or did you have a lesion culture that said hsv1+?

How was your bf been diagnosed as having herpes? did he have a lesion culture and typing done?

also it doesn't make a darn bit of difference whether you treat your initial ob or not as far as future ob's. treating herpes ob's just helps to speed the healing of lesions - it has no impact on the number of future ob's or anything. I"m not sure where you got that idea from.

the doctors may have confused which type they told you.generally genital herpes is caused by type 2,you can get HSV1 down there but would  likely be a single outbreak not likely to return. there are products on the net that work extremely well at treating and potentially eliminating the virus you should check it out they are guaranteed to work. try these two you'll be very impressed (product called ever clr3 at /goodbyeherpes.info,& choraphor at /choraphor.com) they both also work on both types.
