titer

last May this year i was diagnosed to have a syphilis with 1:8 titer. then just today i have my follow up check up with RPR test and i got the result with 1:2 titer. this means i still syphilis and can pass it to other? am i still contagious with this disease? next month is my schedule for my medical to my working visa here in china and i am worried it will show result as positive. is this possible?

Any answers from you is very appreciated.

thank you so much.

You can follow up test at any time but again it might not go below 1.0 for months or even years. Alchol has nothing to do with going under 1.0, it's the antibodies in your body and only time will cause them to drop.

Non reactive is under 1.0, I don't expect this to happen for at least several months, probably years.

You were treated I would assume? If so then the tier going down is a sign that syphilis has been successfully treated. You may remain positive for several years as the antibodies stay in the blood for a very long time.
