cold sore

Is it possible to have a cold sore above your mouth?  it is only one single sore about 1/2 inch away from my lip, just wondering if I need to be worried about herpes?  I usually get cold sores around my lip, but this is unusual. Any help would be greatly aprreciated. Thanks

Herpes infects nerve groups, and the nerve group that oral herpes infects actually covers pretty much your whole face, so it is entirely possible to get an hsv1 sore away from the mouth area.

Em - has your doc talked to you about suppression?   You could try taking an antiviral every day and see if that helps reduce the frequency and severity of your outbreaks.

Yea i get Cold Sores aaaalll the time it seems like, I've gone to the doctor about it actually because they get sooo big. Their best guess is that i have a weak immune system and get stressed easily.

but anyways.....

yea i've gotten them like right under my nose before. When I was in 5th grade i actually got one that started right off the side of my lip and spread up to on top of my nose. If it really starts to bug you, go to the doctor and they might give you something. My doctor actually suggested to go to a dermatologist if what he gives me doesnt work

but dont worry, its not super unusual to get them off the side of your mouth.
