Chances of contracting syphilis after unprotected oral

Hi everyone,

I really need your help.

I had an exposure giving oral sex to another male without protection. I checked the penis ( circumcised) without any available sore or bumps. There was little pre-cum without ejaculation. The next day, i had sex with my wife unprotected. After three days, i developed a bad sore throat with fever and ear infection. And my wife after 5 days developed a weird looking small canker on her lip. It was not herpes nor normal pimple.

My question is what are the chances that i contracted syphilis this way? If i did, will i transmit it to my wife the next day? I am currently on Augmentin 1G for acute bronchitis, will it treat Syphilis? Im more worried about my wife.

Worth to mention, before the appearance of the canker my wife did a filler re-touch to her lips and in the same night the canker appeared.

Do i need testing? And when?

Thank you all.

While syphilis is possible from giving oral, the timing of your symptoms, and your actual symptoms, are all off if it was syphilis.

Syphilis would give you a painless, round sore at 10-90 days, with the average of 3 weeks. The sore would appear at the point of infection, like your tongue or lips. You wouldn't get a fever or sore throat.

You would not be able to transmit it to your wife without that sore, and then she would get a sore 10-90 days later at the point of infection.

If your male partner had no sores, bumps or lumps, he couldn't have given you syphilis. Syphilis is only transmitted when symptoms are present.

Augmentin won't cure syphilis, but you couldn't get it anyway if he didn't have symptoms. My guess is that you got bronchitis because it's that season all around the world, and there are a ton of things going around, and your wife got the sore from her lip fillers.

If you are going to have sex partners outside your marriage, you can insist on using condoms for oral sex. No judgement, just giving information. I hope you feel better soon!

Thank you so much, i feel better now.
i’m just worried about my wife more than myself. It’s just that the sore was looking so weird it got me thinking of Syphilis.

I hope everything goes well and thank you
You're welcome. :) Have a good weekend.
