chlamydia without having sex

A question has been on my mind for several years now and I have so far been to scared to ask anyone.

At the age of 17 I saw my GP thinking I had thrush...he tested me and diagnosed chlamydia .
I was treated with antibiotcs and thought no more of it.
I am now 42 and have only found out a few years ago that chlamydia is a STD.
I was brought up in a very strict houshold, my parents were devoted christians and  I actually did not have any sexual contact until the age of 21 when I moved away from home.
As this has been really playing on my mind now I have done some research and found  that a mother can pass chlamydia  on to her baby if she is a carrier... by vaginal birth...although Iread that  it then only affects the baby's eyes and respiratory tract not the vagina.
Is there any other way I could have contracted chlamydia, or could something have happened in my childhood that I don't / didn't want to know about ??

Well, 2 positive tests are not likely to be false positives, but again, it would depend on what kind of test they are using.  I have no idea what they were using in Germany 25 years ago.

If you can't remember any abuse, its unlikely that you will ever have any good answers to this.  :(

thank you for your answer....

I am german and went to my gynocologist.....in Germany it is normal to go straight to the specialist. He took a swab and checked this under the microscope....came straight back with the result and explained what he saw and what it was. He never really went into detail about the disease though, maybe he thought I knew....but had to treat me twice as I still tested positiv after the first course of antibiotics.
I don't know if any mistakes can be made when tested like this...and I don't know how it is tested today...

If your mom had chlamydia at birth, you would have had a systemic infection, not a localized one genitally.

If you had never had sex of any kind, I would assume you had a false positive.  I have no idea what the tests were like 25 years ago, but I'm sure they aren't as good as what we have now.

I can't speak to what happened in childhood, and wouldn't dream of suggesting that something happened to you that you don't remember, or want to remember.

Its likely at this point, you might never know.
