I have had the misfortune myself of getting the crabs years ago. I was not sexually active at that period of time and can say confidently that I got them from a toilet seat. The eggs live for an extended period of time making it very difficult to get rid of them. So long that the only way I could get rid of them was to put all of my underwear and bed sheets in a plastic bag for a couple of weeks allowig the eggs to die before cleaning everthing for reuse.
