Reinfected by chlamydia?

So a year ago I found out my new boyfriend had chlamydia and gave it to me. I took the azithromycin, as did he, and both our symptoms went away. We did not get retested though. I decided to go get everything checked up last week and asked to include an STD test just to make sure i didnt have it, but the results came back positive yet again 1 year later.

Is it possible for chlamydia to remain in the GI tract and not be affected by any antibiotic, and reinfect someone? I'm trying to look at all sides before jumping to the "my boyfriend must have cheated and given it to me again" conclusion.

Repeat infections are not uncommon and this is why it's recommended to take a test at three months after treatment to ensure it's been treated
