Earring stud in shoe!

My seven year old was complaining of something hurting his shoe and when I checked, an earring stud pierced through the bottom. Is this something I need to be concerned about?! Slightly panicking here

Nope, no worries here for anything.

First, the post of an earring isn't long enough to poke the foot. Even if it was, there's nothing from an earring that would cause concern.

There are no STIs that would infect an ear, and even if a person had a blood-borne pathogen (HIV, any of the hepatitis viruses), it would have died long before it entered your child's shoe, and there wouldn't have been enough blood on it to transmit, if for some reason the ear was bleeding.

I know you have health anxiety, but there's nothing to worry about here.

Apologies if this is a duplicate response. Thanks for your quick reply, in terms of my previous health anxiety, I’ve done a lot to address this and don’t feel it’s an issue any more. However, this was a different scenario that I felt should be checked. I’ve looked at the sole of my son’s foot and there is a small puncture, like a pin prick. But I’m assuming the answer you gave still stands and there was no risk
Absolutely, there's no risk.

If it helps, even nurses/health care professionals who get needle sticks only have a .03% chance of getting infected with something. The chance from an earring through a shoe is zero.

I'm happy to hear you've done work on the health anxiety. :) Anxiety is tough.
Just to copy AJ - zero risk. May get a small bruise mind!
