Epidymitis / NGU

Hi, reposting this here, as didnt get a reply in urology forum: (hope that's ok)

In October i was diagnosed at GUM clinic with NGU and Epididymitis about 3 weeks after unprotected oral from a one night encounter. All other tests clear inc Chlamydia. My symptoms were frequent urination and dull ache in right testicle (no discharge).

Sexual health clinic prescribed 100mg doxycycline twice a day for 2 x weeks, completed fully as prescribed, frequent urination continued for a few weeks after treatment and the Epididymitis ache disappeared and then came back.

Had further swap test clear, urine dip test clear at STI clinic and since at docs 2 x urine tests both clear.

Doc tested for prostate problems in bloods and urine all clear and a few weeks ago still getting slight ache in right testicle i went back to doctor and the prescribed another round of 14 days 100mg doxycycline (completed) and seems to deal with it and it appears to have come back soon after this. Just a slight ache when i sit down or are resting and usually in the evening.

Notes: Had a vascetomy 12 months ago and also have phimosis, which required a circumcision a few days ago so I wont be having sex anytime soon. My urologist has prescribe me with 7 days of Co-Amoxiclav post circumcision (just finished today).

My questions are as follows

Was this more likely from the unprotected oral or the phimosis?

Do you think this could still be a bacterial problem if urine tests are negative or something else?

Am I at any risk of passing this on to my current partner?

Should I get retested at STI clinic or ask for any further tests from doctor?

Could this be caused by anxiety?

Any recommendations would be most welcome.

Thanks again in advance

"Was this more likely from the unprotected oral or the phimosis?" - was what more likely from the oral or the phimosis? The NGU? You might never know.

*Do you think this could still be a bacterial problem if urine tests are negative or something else?

Pain from epididymitis can linger for weeks - easily up to 6 weeks. Doctors often neglect to tell patients that.

*Am I at any risk of passing this on to my current partner?

If you do not have an active infection, it can not be passed to a partner.

*Should I get retested at STI clinic or ask for any further tests from doctor?

If you have negative STI testing for gonorrhea, chlamydia, NGU, etc., I see no reason to continue testing.

*Could this be caused by anxiety?

You've had a lot happen in a small area in a short time. It could be anxiety. I don't know if you went outside a relationship, but guilt can also factor in. If you think it could be anxiety, talk to your doctor and/or a counselor. Don't discount this - you've had a lot happen physically, and perhaps mentally. It can cause real symptoms.

Hang in there. :)
