Fordyce's Spots -- Becoming irritated.

I'm 13, and have never had sex. I had surgery about 4 weeks ago (on friday) on a hydracele. That has healed up nicely and the stitches are currently in the stages of disolving.

I noticed, today that what usually seemed to be fordyce's spots, became red.. and irritated.  I also noticed that I blotches of red, irritated skin towards the base of my penis. These areas don't usually hurt or itch.. but sometimes give a itching sensation.

This hasn't appeared until today, whereas the Fordyce's spots have been there for a while.

Is this something that I should be worried, or see a live doctor about?

Thanks, you two for the responses.. Yes, I do believe it's Jock Itch given by the symptoms... and we do have some spray stuff at our house that my parents told me I could use.

No, it's not red or any of that near the incisions..

Thanks!

You haven't had sex so it's definitely not a std.

fordyce spots will seem bigger sometimes rather than others but your description of your symptoms currently seem like something else going on.  Obviously a lot of folks have seen your genitals as of late and didn't notice anything unusual so whatever is normally there, is normal, even if it's not fordyce spots ( you've fairly recently went thru puberty too so skin changes - even just hair follicles will seem different as you get older ).

You've been thru a lot recently - you've had many things going on in your genital area too - folks peeking at things while wearing gloves and lifting everything up and about as well as they used all sorts of cleansers to prep you for surgery.  Odds are this is either just plain ole irritation or it's a fungal infection starting from your normal protective flora on the skin being disrupted.  If you are comfortable with doing so, ask mom or dad to take a look at the rash and ask them if they think it looks like jock itch.  It certainly won't hurt to pick up an otc jock itch cream and start using it 2x/day and see if things get better. If the rash gets worse or is still there after a week of using jock itch cream, definitely then time to see your provider.

I take it this rash doesn't seem like it's redness and firmness near your incision sites?

You would need to see a Dr for proper diagnosis. Self diagnosis is not something we encourage because it could be something else. But you can be assured that it is not a STD.

I should also mention, that the Fordyce's spots are self diagnosed.. and have not been determined so by a doctor.
