nsu over and over agin

Hi,can anyone help.I had a bout of nsu or ngu in the states with an ex-girlfriend.When we finished I still felt a bit strange and went back to the clinic and was checked and given the all clear. But because of me still feeling symptoms they gave me doxycycline just in case.A few months later I still felt strange and went back they said I was all clear again.I started to think this is now all in my head but whatever safe sex all the way from know.I met a lovely girl a little while ago and we slept together but did not have sex.But she woke me with a bit of oral sex but I am so worried all the time that I put a stop to it pretty quick.I panicked and went to the clinic the next day and guess what they said I had nsu but no specific cause.I could not believe it I felt like they did not believe me the last two times I went there.I am at my wits end.Have I given my lovely girlfriend nsu in her mouth.I feel terrible.

no you didn't give your gf anything in her mouth.

nsu from "normal" mouth bacteria is pretty common from oral sex.   If you know you are prone to it consider only having protected sex and protected oral sex to help protect you from mouth flora irritating your urogenital area.  Also drink plenty of fluids after sex and try to urinate as soon as you can after receiving oral sex or having genital sex.

Thanks Grace.I know everything you are saying.I have realised I am prone to nsu.My last girlfriend was tested for everything and they found nothing but she was treated and yet I  obviously still had an nsu.It just made me angry how they twice at the gum clinic did tests and found nothing even though I was sure there was something wrong.I will always have protected sex until I want kids and then we can have check ups together before hand.Just one more thing do you know of any natural remedy that can make your urinary tract stronger.Thank you.

Just to make sure are you saying that if I had nsu before she gave me oral sex then she should be ok.

yes that's what I'm saying - your gf is fine.

It might be that sometimes you just have irritation too and not full blown infection. this could be why you are feeling something not being "right" but yet nothing shows up on your urine tests.

Ok I am just confused as to why it didnt twice and the third time it did show some puss cells which is why they said I had nsu.

Sorry Grace.I think I am worrying too much.I have had this on and off for four years now and its starting to take over my life.Even with the amount of tabs they have dished out to me I still seem to get NSU every now and again. It ruined my last relationship and I dont want it too happen again.

some of us are just unluckier than others are :(   Like I said, protected sex should help reduce the incidence of it along with protected oral sex.

Sorry to hear about your chronic UTI/NSU.

a remedy that can make your urinary tract stronger is:

Drink cranberry juice, and vitamin C pills (especially after dinner), make your urine acidic; drink more water too, if you  can drink 1/4 shot of apply cider vinegar twice a day.  I never tried mannos-5, but heard its helped people.

Then, avoid high fructose high sugar foods/soft drinks, ice cream, fatty acids.
(you can have these once in a while too much can bring UTI back)

Hi,went back to clinic on thursday.Nsu/ngu had not gone away after treatment and was worse.I have now been given Zithromax.GP sending me for other tests.A bit of advice for anyone with this condition. If you feel you have this condition after you have been treated keep on going back to the clinic even when they have told you you are all clear.I did not and I was sure I still had it.GP said I could trust the tests.Body was saying something else but I convinced myself the experts were right and I had a bit of irritation. Now after saying condoms all the way as I posted on here and my new girlfriend waking me up with a bit of oral for about 30 seconds I now have to tell her all this next weekend.According to clinic over here in UK it is very easy to pass NGU/NSU bacteria  orally man to woman, woman to man.Too many bacteria like warm moist places.Like I said trust your own body it tells you things.I doubt the new girfriend will want to see me again when I tell her.

why would your gf not want to see you again?  You don't have a std, you have a bacterial infection, no different from an uti like she can easily get from sex with you.  no big deal to have to use condoms all the time to protect you either. I'm sure you'd do the same for her if her doctor recommended it for recurrent vaginitis in her.

Thats true Grace.I guess its a bit hard to tell someone what is going on when you first start out on a relationship with her.The only thing is you look at nsu over here on the internet and its straight away says its a STI without explaining it properly.I wanted to use condoms all the time I just got caught out.Should have explained from the start.

well you can assure her that you've ruled out std's as a cause :)

Ok.Spoke to the girlfriend regarding my recurrent NSU/NGU.As we say in London it went down like a lead balloon.I broke it off before I give her a chance to say much. But the shock was terrible for her.I guess at least I never had vaginal sex with her and could have passed it on there and I would have worn a condom. The new meds have not worked again.Seem to be making it worse rather than better.I have an appointment with a Urologist and maybe he can find the reason but I got my doubts.Personally they call it a minor infection at the clinic but if It had been clam it would be cured by now.As Grace has said before some of us are unluckier than others.Last post from me.Hope you all stay healthy.

You made a very interesting  comment in my view and I am a little confused by it.  How common is it for a person to get a ngu from normal mouth bacteria and not a STD?

And even though it is contracted sexually it isn't considered an STD?  Did I understand you correctly.

And once infected with this NGU is it possible then to give it to someone else?  For example a man has oral performed on him and then either has vaginal sex with that same person or another woman shortly thereafter.

Is it possible that the man, infected with an NGU from something other an STD, could infect this person or another woman with this non STD.

The reason I ask is that say the Cleveland Clinic for example refers to NGU as an STD (ie usually chlamydia).

I welcome your explanation.  You are a wealth of information and I greatly appreciate the time you dedicate to this site.

Thanks,

it's a sti but not what we tend to think of as a std. ( clear as mud eh? lol )  Yes sometimes it is clearly a std and caused by chlamydia but most times it's not caused by bacteria that we consider to be stds - it's just that mode of contact that you contracted it from was sexually transmitted ( so yes indeed it is a sexually transmitted infection ). for instance recent research shows that H. Pylori bacteria is a common cause of ngu. that's also the bacteria responsible for many stomach ulcers.  try telling your grand pappy that his ulcer is a std ( or better yet, tell grandma that it is....he he he ).   All kinds of bacteria that is normal in the mouth but when it gets into the urogenital tract, causes issues.

Most of the time, ngu is not going to be transmitted to your female partner unless of course it is caused by chlamydia. some of the viral causes of it can also be transmitted to a partner.  If you've treated it with a full week of antibiotics or once several weeks have passed, it's not likely to be an issue for your partner even if symptoms persist.

hope that makes some sort of sense.

Hi,
Just an update.I have know been treated with Doxycycline, azithromycin,Zithromax, zithromax and metronidazole combined.Still no change to my Nsu/ngu.I am seeing a Urologist tommorow at last.
The clinic are now lost as to what is causing this so hopefully the Urologist can help.
Could this be prostatitis causing this or something else.Any ideas.
Thanks

Hi Grace,
I have been diagnosed with chronic prostatitis and given 3 months of Doxycycline and have to go back for a check up in 4 months. In a strange way I am relieved that they have found out what has been causing my Nsu and that I can now move on and try to get this cured. You did say previously that this was a bacterial infection and that it was not an std.I would like to thank you and wished you worked in the Gum clinic that I visited.I knew there was something more to this as why all them meds had no affect on my condition.
Thanks Grace

Hi,three weeks into doxy for my chronic prostatitis.(At least thats what the Urologist thinks is causing my NGU.He really did not care at all.Got to say I think he got it wrong and I have NGU which has caused the prostatitis.Chicken and egg.?.Thanks for some of the advice that I have received and I have decided not to fight this anymore.I am worn out by it.Minor infection they said what a joke.I hope I come back as a Dolphin but I would probably be netted by a fisherman on my first day. See you all.
