Should I seek another opinion
Hi I am 19 years old and I recently started experiencing some weird symptoms. I have had a greenish/yellow discharge for a couple of weeks, plus when I was having sex it was burning very bad. I made an appoinment with my gynecologist and she looked at my vagina, but all she said was "yea looks like a yeast infection" and didnt even take a swab or anything.
I didnt tell her the discharge was greenish/yellow do you think if I had told her she would have conducted a swab test or something like that? Because I am very certain that it's trich but she prescribed me flucaonazole and a topical cream for the itching/burning.
I have been with the same guy for 8 months and recently this symptoms have occured. He had never had unprotected sex before me and I had it once about 2 years ago. I was tested and nothing about trich came back on my test results, and she took a culture of my vaginal discharge and told me it was BV. Could she have diagnosed me wrong and I have this std for 2 years? It seems so unlikely but I am concerned that my gyno diagnosed me wrong.
She didnt ask me about my sexual activity or anything questions at all. She looked at my vagina for 2.5 seconds and said it looked like a yeast infection. What is likelihood that it's just a regular yeast infection and not trich? Do you suggest I get another opinion?
Also I found a website that you can buy flagyl without a prescription if I take it and I dont have trich will it cause any negative side effects?

Also I had a pap-smear done about a month ago and everything came back well. Would trich show up on a pap-smear or only if they are specifically testing for it?
Do not self medicate, it is dangerous.
I would see your Dr again, it could be a number of different things and without testing it's hard to rule something out. And please tell them about your sexual history.
It could be trich, having it for 2 years would not be completly uncommon. But it could also be something like gonorrhea, chlymida or a yeast infection like your Dr thinks.

Most of the time pap-smears do not have STD testing associated with them so it probably would not show.
i looked up most yeast infections and trich was the only infection that described the discharge as yellow/green as well as pain during sex
Gonorrhea and chlymida both have discharge associated with them and the color can vary. I would not rule them out.
i am in a monogamous relationship and weve both been tested for both and have negative test results.
