Swab is highly accurate...but it does have a random false positive.
I have to disagree with Healthadvisory a little bit... years of having gonnorhea is not impossible but on the unlikely side. But with having PID it does kind of fit. But since you had negative tests in the past, if was either a false positive or picked up from current bf and PID is no connection to the gonorrhea.
It is very odd but no one can tell me how this can happen. I asked the doctor if they had the right test report, and she said yes and because they did a vaginal swab there is no way that they could be wrong. I was in so much pain and after taking the antibiotics I still feel as if my stomach is swollen or inflamed. I had intestinal endometriosis and i am sure this has something to do with it but how could I have tested positive for Gono then?
You didn't get gono 2 years ago. Either it happened recently or it is not gono. You tested negative gono, you are gono free. I guarantee you if you had gono you would've known by now. However some woman with pid don't have symptoms right away but 2 years is a stretch, you should of had symptoms. I really can't tell you what it is, this seems odd.
It is Possibly, to get false std test. I have experienced this first hand after experiencing acute abdominal pain. I kept getting negative std test, (blood and urine for every thing , They tested for everything HIV gonn, clym, thyroid, blood cells, everything.) Finally found a good OBGYN, test came back negative. He performed a laproscopy to see what was going on, only to find a bad PID infection and hemm. cysts, which he believed stem from an old untreated std.My question is how can this be possible, Ive been consistency tested for std and treated. long story short it happens
This is so frustrating. Thanks so much
Can't say what could cause a false positive but now you will not know if you had a false positive or not. You are never going to know when you got this or who you got it from.
Thank you for responding :)
I was also told because of my symptoms that I have PID as well. When I went in for my surgery 2007 they would have told me i had it then, but I didnt. I am sure I was given an antibiotic for the bacterial vaginosis or the Yeast infection because I couldnt get rid of it, but I am almost positive that was late 2007. I was given tons of meds and I am getting retested again in two weeks. He is getting retested this friday and he already took the meds as well.
What else could trigger a false positive?
No masterbation will not trigger it. Could you have had it all of the time...possible but with 2 negative tests highly unlikely. I have never heard of the pill being a factor in test results. Nothing should effect the results execpt for anti-biotics.
If you have not started treatment I would suggest retesting to see if you got a true result or a false positive. If you have a false positive then follow up with your Dr to explore symptoms more. If it was a confirmed positive then your new guy should get tested again and treated reguardless of test outcome.
