Trichomoniasis and how it spreads?

Recently, a trip to my gynecologist led to a positive test for Trich. A result which I have no idea where it came from. My partner and I have been together for about 2 years now. And I've only had one other partner before. My previous partner and I separated for a while. During that time, he dated another woman before we got back together. But that was three years ago. I asked that my current partner get tested just in case he had contracted it from me, but his test result came back negative. I'm at a loss right now because I really have no earthly idea where this infection came from. I understand that not much is known about Trich, but I simply wanted to know if there was something I was missing seeing as there are now accusations being thrown at me regarding cheating and this could potentially ruin my relationship if the source is not sorted out. Any information is greatly appreciated.

Hi, how were you tested and on a side note there is no reliable test for trich in men so you should assume he is positive also and be treated. Little is known about trich but bottom line is thats its most often sexually transmitted.
