Mycoplasma gentalium

I have heard from someone recently that there is an infection called sistemic mycoplasma infection.
This can be obtained sexually and can have many symtpoms assoctieated with other disease (fever/sore lymphs/nightsweats/maialse/nausea) etc etc.  It is neither a bacteria nor virus and will usually eventually clear up on its own, but may require antibiotics. It is usually not screened for in standard std tests, but is detectable by serology.  Its not usually fatal. I have found some evidence that supports this on the net.  Walking phneumonia is caused by the organism as well.   Has anyone ever heard this before? Any validity?

There is a mycoplasma genitalium, but there are other mycoplasma germs that cause things like pneumonia, etc.

It is a bacteria, and its hard to find with tests.

I'm not sure exactly what you want to know about it, though.

Thanks Vance,
I realize its not something new.  I have an appoint w/ and ID Doc next week so Ill let you know what he says. Looks like a lot of the syptoms could be mistaken for HIV symptoms.  I finally have a little hope that maybe what has been causing all my problems the last few weeks may not be HIV.  I ll keep my fingers crossed.

I had not heard of this before, I did find something decent on the net but it is going to take a while to read through.
It looks like it is passed sexually, but I don't think it is classified as an STD because I don't think it is something on it's own. Can't say because I have a lot to read on it.

I would put it out of your head because it is not a new STD, if that is what you are thinking?
