White discharge - gonorrhea, other STDs?

I had brief unprotected oral sex, both receiving and giving, with a woman a few months ago. There may have been some genital-to-genital rubbing but no penetration. I have had no symptoms since then. My current partner recently experienced a few days of the following symptoms: thick whitish discharge, particularly noticeable during/after intercourse, and some itching. This ended and now she has no symptoms.

What could this be? Gonorrhea, yeast, other bacteria? I am very anxious. Can such symptoms just disappear if it's an std? what about if a yeast infection?

I wouldn't worry at all.

The discharge came back so my partner went to the doctor. The doctor said it was fungus and prescribed her antibiotics. I suppose a misdiagnosis is possible but should I not worry intensely about it?

If it was gonorrhea or chlamydia, it wouldn't have gone away.

Yes, yeast can be spread sexually, but its not really an std.  its strange, sort of.

Thanks very much for your reply. Any idea if the symptoms I described are consistent with gonorrhea (or chlamydia - less likely because the unprotected portion was almost all oral).

The way you describe it yeast sounds like an sti of sorts. Is that correct?

Yes, a yeast infection can clear up on its own.

If she had yeast though, its not from your encounter, most likely.  Its not likely to be spread via oral.  It might be from rubbing, but even that isn't all that likely.

Hi auntiejessie - thanks much for your reply.

I was thinking it might be yeast, but can a yeast infection clear up on its own?

I am planning to get tested Friday but in the interim was hoping someone could help me assess my risks, or to share some knowledge beyond what random googling can provide. I'm climbing the walls and don't know how I'll make it through the next week. My partner will be devastated if I've passed something to her. I was out of town when the unprotected encounter occurred.

It might have been yeast.  If you are concerned, why not just test?
